SAIC is seeking a Senior Systems Safety Engineer to support the US Navy in Crane, IN.
Job Duties:
Provide Expert Systems Safety Engineering support for Navy Lithium Battery technologies, with familiarity with S9310-AQ-SAF-010, SG-270-BV-SAF-010, MIL-STD 882 NOSSA Instruction 9310, NAVSEA 5100.12c.
Provide Lithium Battery research, development, application, vendor history and current technical issues surrounding this technology; Battery dissection expertise recognizing various historical failure modes; and Battery cell and string safety concerns such as anti-propagation techniques and battery management systems, for Aircraft and Aerospace Battery, and Missile Batteries.
Provide DoD acquisition lifecycle expertise (for battery design, development, procurement, etc.). Missile battery testing expertise in both electrical and environmental applications.
Provide Engineering Analysis support to ensure all system requirements are met by performing an analytical review of all available test data, and assessing electrical design (including schematic diagrams), mechanical design, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), power generation and grounding, electrical and mechanical interface compatibility, system safety engineering, human engineering, software operation and maintenance, power generation, distribution, management and savings and static & dynamic analysis.
Provide Systems Safety Engineering support including safety program plans, safety site surveys/plans, tracking procedures, hazard lists, hazard analyses, safety evaluation and testing plans/procedures, reports, safety related Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), and other safety and hazard engineering documents, utilizing OPNAVINST 5100.23G, Change 1 (Navy Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Program), and OPNAVINST 5102.1D CH-2 (Navy and Marine Corps Mishap and Safety Investigation, Reporting, and Record Keeping). Evaluation shall be for compliance with MIL-STD-882E (System Safety) and other specified requirements.
Qualifications
Required education and experience:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience.
Position requires experience serving as a Technical Agent for the Navy's Lithium Battery Safety Program. Familiarity with NAVSEA E&TA and other SYSCOM tech authorities. Familiarity with program office roles and the varying roles of Technical authorities is required.
