Overview

The Shipboard Network Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring and managing all aspects of the local area networks aboard US Navy Submarines. As a Shipboard Network Systems Engineer your goal will be to ensure the integrity/implementation of the network infrastructure delivering robust systems connectivity and functionality to Navy submarine crews. You will be expected to perform well in a fast-paced and results-oriented team.

Duties and Responsibilities include:
  • Design and implement network solutions that meet US DoD standards and/or improve the efficiency/coverage of current networks
  • Integration of government furnished information and equipment
  • Perform technology investigations and trade off studies
  • Design and implement system configurations for shipboard and laboratory uses
  • Document and manage the installation of each network
  • Maintain and upgrade existing systems as necessary
  • Troubleshoot and resolve shipboard issues and network faults
  • Provide remote support and troubleshooting to Navy crews
  • Report design and construction status to key stakeholders
  • Review and update relevant test forms and test procedures
  • Installation and testing of Navy Applications

Qualifications

Required:
  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering, Computer Systems and Networks, Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • 5+ years of professional engineering experience

Preferred:
  • Project management
  • DoD contract experience
  • EVMS experience
  • Military network/IT experience

  • Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work to meet design and construction schedules
  • Ability to obtain a DoD secret clearance
