Job Details
Job Title: Sr. DevOps Engineer Location: Reston, VA (Remote) EST ONLY onsite ~1X monthly
Type: 12+ Months Contract
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Sr. DevOps Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. You will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of DevOps tools and processes, working closely with architects, lead engineers, and other team members to design, build, and implement cloud-native solutions with AWS and EKS. Candidates should have some knowledge in DevSecOps as well understanding security vulnerabilities
What You ll Do
- Collaborate with architects and engineering leads to design and implement solutions
- Plan and develop roadmaps for EKS and AWS DevOps implementations
- Build applications following AWS and EKS best practices
- Ensure milestones are met on time and deliver high-quality results
- Conduct code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing
- Document system designs and testing procedures clearly
- Automate manual processes to increase efficiency
Required Skills & Experience
- Hands-on experience with AWS and EKS (Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service)
- Proficient in Python and Shell scripting
- Experience with CloudBees, BitBucket, SonarQube, Artifactory, and cloud-native practices
- Strong understanding of Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Testing (CT), Security, and Continuous Deployment (CD)
- Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence for project tracking and documentation
- Some knowledge in DevSecOps understanding security vulnerabilities
- Ability to apply engineering principles to improve system resiliency, performance, scalability, and efficiency
- Strong Linux and Windows system administration skills
- Excellent documentation and communication skills
- Self-starter with the ability to learn quickly
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotation
Daily Responsibilities
- Use the DevOps Scoring Framework to improve maturity metrics for delivery teams
- Develop and deploy applications leveraging EKS and cloud-native technologies into production
- Conduct retrospectives and document lessons learned and improvements
- Manage AWS and EKS operations effectively
- Work with cloud-native tools and administer AWS Console (specifically where CloudBees agents run on EC2 instances)
