Job Description:

An experienced Outage Management Systems (OMS) SME to oversee and manage all testing activities in an OMS implementation project for our utility client. The OMS SME will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing comprehensive testing strategies to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of the OMS solution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end testing lifecycle for the OMS implementation, including test planning, design, execution, defect management, and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts covering all OMS functionalities and integrations.
  • Coordinate with business stakeholders, IT teams, and vendors to understand requirements and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
  • Oversee system, integration, user acceptance, regression, and performance testing phases.
  • Ensure thorough testing of key OMS functionalities, including:
  • Outage detection, prediction, and restoration management
  • Trouble call management and customer communications
  • Crew management and dispatch
  • Switching management and safety tagging
  • Fault location, isolation, and service restoration (FLISR)
  • AMI integration for outage verification
  • Storm management and large-scale event response
  • Real-time network model management and GIS integration
  • Reporting, analytics, and regulatory compliance features

  • Manage test environments, data preparation, and test automation where applicable.
  • Track and manage defects, ensuring timely resolution and retesting.
  • Provide regular status updates, test metrics, and quality assessments to project leadership.
  • Mentor and guide the testing team, ensuring adherence to best practices and quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and security requirements during testing.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in software testing, with at least 3 years in OMS or utility systems testing.
  • Strong understanding of OMS functionalities, utility operations, and outage management processes.
  • Experience with leading OMS platforms (e.g., Oracle, GE, Schneider Electric, Milsoft, Survalent).
  • Proven experience in test management, defect tracking, and test automation tools.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred:

Familiarity with NERC CIP, cybersecurity, and utility regulatory requirements.
