Accepting local candidates within 90 minutes of Lansing, MI ONLY. Position will be hybrid, in office 2 days a week upon start and there is NO REMOTE ONLY option.

Skill Descriptions
7+ years of Database administration specifically on SQL Server 16 and upwards.
In-depth knowledge of Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server on Azure VMs, including their features, limitations, and best practices.
Proven experience in implementing and managing HA / DR solutions like Always On Availability Groups, geo-replication, and point-in-time restore.
Expertise in Transparent Data Encryption within SQL Server.
Over 3+ years of experience creating, updating and maintaining systems documentation.
Strong understanding of database security principles, including user management, role-based access control, data encryption, and compliance regulations.
Proficient in designing, implementing, and testing robust backup and recovery strategies for Azure SQL databases.
Experience with Azure Monitor, Azure Log Analytics, and other tools for proactive monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting.
Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell or Python for automating routine tasks, deployments, and management.
Experience with migrating on-premises SQL Server databases to Azure SQL platforms.
Familiarity with ETL processes and tools like Azure Data Factory or SSIS for data integration.
Advanced skills in identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, including query optimization, index tuning, and database configuration.

Database Administrator 5 MiARC Senior DBA
The Database Administrator 5 position will work as a contract resource for the State of Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) supporting the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) for the Michigan Accounts Receivable and Collections (MiARC) Project.
As a Senior-level Database Administrator, the resource will:
Participate in 247 software and hardware support including Disaster Recovery and incident response support, following industry and DTMB development standards.
Help develop and/or submit for approval, plans for installation, patch management maintenance, upgrades and support for the Database systems.
Evaluate impacts of change and new technology, recommend solutions to persistent problems, and serve as an Agency Services liaison to external consultants.
Individual tasks related to the duty:
Follow and enforce database standards, policies & procedures. Research and draft guidelines within the boundaries of current policies and standards.
Monitor space allocation across databases. perform adjustments in test and development environments as necessary and as prescribed by predefined standards/guidelines.
Calculate disk space requirements for existing and/or new installations of existing business needs
Modify DBMS parameters based on capacity changes.
Configure and execute database integrity checks.
Monitor for database integrity checks.
Install database base management software for development and test environments.
Install database patches and service packs for development and test environments.
Monitor and support clustered database environments.
Monitor and support database replication and backup environments.
Implement the strategy to release unused space or repair fragmentation in test and development environments.
Execute (run) scripts provided by Systems Analysts or Database Architect/Designer for creating and modifying database objects (tables, views, constraints, indexes, etc.)
Monitor database back-ups to ensure recoverability. Troubleshoot backup errors.
Monitor database jobs and scheduled processes in development, test and production environments. Participate in troubleshooting.
Monitor database environments (using alert logs, trace files, alert mechanisms, and other tools) for issues and problems with database functionality, connectivity, or downtime.
Follow standards and guidelines for database space allocation based on best practices and implementation considerations based on business requirements.
