Description

SAIC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join in and support our team in Panama City Beach Florida.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

You will be working in a dynamic environment at our Holley Engineering and Integration Center. You will be supporting multiple Navy projects of various scales. You will hone your teamwork skills and gain engineering experience rapidly.

As an engineering team member, you will:
  • Develop and maintain drawings and technical documents around specific systems. This will require the direction of drafters and technical writers.
  • Capture design requirements using MBSE principles.
  • Understand and use military and/or commercial specifications in development of drawings as well as understand mechanical stress/strain and how forces acting on parts produce stress/strain. Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is preferred.
  • Work with Quality Assurance and Logistics Teams in development of drawings and to identify manufacturing discrepancies to ensure that drawings contain information required by customer.
  • Manage form fit exercises in development of drawings and technical documentation. This will require direction of engineering technicians and tech writers to develop installation instructions for systems.
  • Participate in weekly/biweekly meetings and effectively communicate project status to stakeholders. Ability to work well within a fast paced, team environment.
  • Participate in various formal and informal design and model reviews.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CLEARANCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline and (0) years or more of experience. Additional years of experience accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • Knowledge of CAD software. The primary CAD tools used on this project is Solidworks. CREO and Autodesk products are also used for some work.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of software.
  • Interim Secret clearance required to start. SAIC will sponsor qualified candidates for a security clearance.
