Principal Architect, Cloud Engineering - Networking

Cloud Engineering is looking for Cloud Architects to provide guidance to our most
meaningful customers on our networking products in the context of pre-sales
engagements.

If you are looking to be part of a highly technical team helping to establish Oracle
Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) as the leading cloud computing platform for enterprises, as
well as having a strong passion for helping customers understand network
architectures and integration approaches, this is a great opportunity to do so.
As a Solutions Architect, you will work closely with Oracle Sales, OCI product teams
and partner with teams across Oracle to craft cloud architectures that address
customer business problems and accelerate the adoption of OCI services. You will
continuously experiment on our platform, building, deploying and migrating
application solutions and use cases our customers currently use or plan to use and
create most optimal architectures and device standard methodologies. As a trusted
customer advocate, the solutions architect will help organizations understand standard
methodologies around advanced cloud-based networking solutions, and how to migrate
existing workloads to the cloud.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of large-scale networking solutions and enjoys keeping the existing technical skills sharp and developing new ones.
Help shape the next generation of cloud computing and influence the adoption and
usage patterns among enterprise and web-scale customers. You should have a
demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, create technical definition
around customer objectives in complex situations, develop solution strategies,
empower and mobilize resources, and deliver results.

Basic qualifications
The right person will possess 7+ years of network design/consulting experience
in the software or infrastructure industries and demonstrate an advance
understanding of applications, server technologies and network routing &
security.
Have spent at least 5+ years of their career in customer facing roles with a
demonstrable record of earning trust as well as effective collaborations across
multiple internal organizations and in interactions with partners and customers.
Expert level understanding of at least one public cloud (such as OCI, AWS,
Azure and Google Cloud Platform) provider is a must.
Hands-on experience with major networking technologies including BGP, OSPF,
SD-WAN, Layer 2 and troubleshooting is required.
Experience with major WAN connectivity options (including MPLS L3VPN,
EoMPLS, DIA, VPLS, dark fiber, dedicated circuits, etc.) and working with
global carriers offering such services is required.
Experience with IPSec VPN, Load Balancers, DNS, NAT, WAF, SD-WAN and
CDN solutions.
Experience with 3rd party firewall solutions from Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco,
Juniper and Check Point.
Strong verbal and written communications skills. Experience writing and
publishing technical documents for a diverse audience.
BS/MS degree required; Computer Science, Math or Engineering degree with
technical background highly desired; Advanced Degree or Cloud certifications.

Preferred qualifications
Ability to research, test and document new technologies.
Experience with complex network architecture tuning and performance
enhancements.
Familiarity with common enterprise solutions from Oracle, Microsoft, VMWare,
or others.
Networking professional certifications such as CCIE/CCNP, JNCIE/JNCIP or
others.
Experience with Linux, network monitoring and telemetry solutions.
Experience with automation frameworks or programing languages, such as
Terraform, Ansible, Python, Go, or others.

Responsibilities

Roles and responsibilities

Participate in deep architectural discussions with customers, partners and
Oracle pre-sales teams to ensure solutions are designed for successful
deployment in the cloud.
Capture and share best-practice knowledge among the field and internal teams.
Implement networking solutions using an over-the-shoulder guidance model,
providing real-time direction, feedback, and support to ensure effective
execution and knowledge transfer.
Mentor and guide junior engineers through technical and professional
development.

Lead the diagnosis and resolution of complex network connectivity and
performance issues.
Author or contribute to customer-facing publications such as whitepapers,
blogs, videos, sample code, training materials and presentations. Present
workshops and other technical solutions to internal and external customers.
Build strong relationships with senior technical individuals within customers to
enable them to be cloud advocates.
Act as a technical liaison between customers and product development team.
Help North American customers and partners migrate key workloads to OCI.
Hands-on skills around various Cloud Services from Oracle and other Cloud
Service Providers.
Assist customers and partners during US working hours.
Occasionally assist customers after US working hours.
Occasionally travel to customer locations.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $113,100 to $185,100 per annum. May be eligible for equity. Eligible for commission with an estimated pay mix of 70/30.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
