Subject Matter Expert IV

Applies knowledge in a technical field with proficiency in relevant engineering principles and practices. Implements solutions to difficult problems, generates concepts as evidenced by product or process improvement, uses engineering/scientific tools to integrate requirements and solve technical problems. Utilizes tools, techniques, processes and/or facilities such as state-of-the-art simulation environments, laboratories, data analysis and test facilities. Participates in engineering team activities in a specialized engineering or technology subject area. Contributes to the technical planning process and provides technical guidance.

Job Requirements:

Support development, analysis, implementation, and rulemaking for UAS Advance Air Mobility (AAM)/Urban Air Mobility (UAM), UAS Traffic Management (UTM), Beyond Visual line of Sight rules and other UAS integration initiatives.

Provide regulatory review, safety, and aviation technical support to the FAA's Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Integration Office . Strong technical skills in aviation, flight experience - UAS specific flight experience preferable, familiar with FAA regulations, most notably 49part 91 and part 107 as they relate to UAS. Familiar with UAS systems, capabilities and emerging technologies. Possess. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to lead, guide, and work with groups across lines of business that include federal and contract resources. Knowledge of UAS, including technology, operations, regulations, applications.

Strong technical skills in aviation, flight experience; Familiar with UAS systems, capabilities and emerging technologies; p roficient in Microsoft 2010 Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Effective writing. Ability to identify program needs and initiate solutions, high level of discretion and judgment , effective time management, ability to multi-task and prioritize work and quickly adapt to change with accuracy. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as work independently. Adaptability when required to take on additional tasks as required (e.g., data analysis, documentation writing, giving presentations). A bility to work in a fast-paced environment and outcome oriented.

Qualifications

Job Qualifications:

Master's degree in engineering, Science, or other related field and 13 years of experience in performing the above duties or aviation-related experience. Master's Degree may be waived with 17 years of experience in performing the above duties or aviation-related experience and a bachelor's degree in engineering, Science, or other related field.

Additional Notes:

Job location is 950 L'Enfant Plaza SW, Washington, DC 20024. Required clearance is an SF-85P completed on site by the FAA. ship required with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
