The pay range is $95,000.00 - $171,000.00

As a Senior Engineer, you serve as a specialist in the engineering team that supports the product. You help develop and gain insight in the application architecture. You can distill an abstract architecture into concrete design and influence the implementation. You show expertise in applying the appropriate software engineering patterns to build robust and scalable systems. You are an expert in programming and apply your skills in developing the product. You have the skills to design and implement the architecture on your own, but choose to influence your fellow engineers by proposing software designs, providing feedback on software designs and/or implementation. Use your technology acumen to apply and maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies within specialized area(s) of the technology domain. Evaluate new technologies and participate in decision-making, accounting for several factors such as viability within Target's technical environment, maintainability, and cost of ownership. Initiate and execute research and proof-of-concept activities for new technologies. Manage total product, financials and forecasting. Lead the design, lifecycle management, and total cost of ownership of services. Lead and conduct code review, design review, testing, and debugging activities at the application level. Lead functional design and architecture discussions with understanding of process flows and system diagrams to enable design decisions. Participate in routine and non-routine construction, automation, and implementation activities, ensuring successful implementation with architectural and operational requirements and best practices met. Provide technical oversight and coach others to resolve complex and severe technical issues. Lead disaster recovery activities and contribute to disaster recovery planning. Embed data quality protocols throughout data acquisition, processing, storage, and operational use.

The Source to Invoice team is responsible for enabling the technical platform that supports the procurement of indirect items and services. Our team works with a diverse technology stack, including Open Source, internal developed applications, SAP Ariba, and SAP S/4HANA. We ensure the timely delivery of technical solutions by adhering to industry best practices and aligning with target standards to develop compliant solutions. The team supports the end to end source to pay process for non-retail goods, including: sourcing, contracting, vendor onboarding, Purchasing and invoicing workflow (Requisition, approval, PO create, Tax Calculations using Vertex, invoice reconciliation), Managing integrations with Maximo, Procore, Vertex and SAP Ariba via APIs and services. Supporting the ordering of equipment for headquarters, non-retail goods and services for stores, and materials for remodeling and constructing new stores.

The Ideal Candidate will have strong proficiency in developing ABAP code within the SAP S/4HANA and SAP Ariba environment. They should be experienced in utilizing technologies such as CDS Views, IDocs, Webservices, OData Services, SAP Fiori, SAP Business Application Studio. The candidate must also be well versed in managing and transporting code using SAP native tools, capable of assessing the relevance of legacy code in newer versions & proficient in secure coding practices.

Sr Engineers are responsible for:
Being an active participant in team ceremonies like daily stan-ups and bi-weekly sprint plannings
Knowing and engaging with product partners within their domain
Understanding their capacity and owning feature development from test to prod
Designing and implementing testable and supportable features
Leaning and growing relevant engineering skills and sharing them with your peers
Researching and providing proof of technology overviews for new and upcoming technologies
Identifying impending risks or opportunities in existing owned technologies
Engaging in break fix and on-call support work
Understanding their product domain and actively managing the product withing

Relevant experience with the below technologies are recommended:
CI/CD: Vela or similar service (drone, chef, etc.)
Storage and Caching: Postgres, Cassandra, Redis, and Elasticsearch
Languages: Java, Groovy, Kotlin, Javascript and Python
Frameworks: Spring Boot, Camel and Praxis
Data Movement: Kafka, Benthos
Metrics Visualization: Grafanna

About you:
4 year degree or equivalent experience
5+ years of software development experience
Demonstrates strong domain-specific knowledge regarding Target's technology capabilities, and key competitors' products and differentiating features
Working knowledge on package-specific configuration and deployment along with ability to build custom solutions
Designs new testing methods and resolves routine and non-routine technical issues with minimal assistance
Demonstrates strong proficiency in core development platforms within own domain
Builds strong commitment within the team to support the appropriate team priorities
Clearly communicates Agile concepts to partners within product team
Demonstrates a solid understanding of the impact of own work on the team and/or guests
Writes and organizes code using multiple computer languages, including distributed programming and understand different frameworks and paradigm
Delivers high-performance, scalable, repeatable, and secure deliverables with broad impact (high throughput and low latency)
Influences and applies data standards, policies, and procedures
Maintains technical knowledge within areas of expertise
Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member's core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
