Job Description:

Summary

Research Support Services (RSS) is seeking a Senior Laboratory Information System (LIS) Analyst. Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) will be providing an Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) solution as an institutional offering. The solution will provide specific database/programming tools allowing our institution to import/export data into or out of their system. These tools are called Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). The solution vendors offer limited support for the development of specific APIs. Many of our research laboratories have existing databases and machine specific data repositories that could share data with the ELN solution.

Job Duties

  • Designs, develops and supports API solutions in support of ELN and new or existing lab hardware/databases.
  • Gathers information on specific lab integration requirements and recommends effective solutions.
  • Liaisons between the Office of Research, the ELN vendor, laboratory staff and centralized IT.
  • Monitors and optimizes existing API solutions.
  • Maintains relevant policies and documentation related to the API solutions.
  • Performs other job duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Medical Technology or a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Three years of relevant experience with a minimum of two years in laboratory information system.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in research settings.
  • Experience in Microsoft and/or Oracle databases.
