About BWT
The Bureau of Wastewater Treatment (BWT) operates and maintains critical wastewater infrastructure across all five boroughs, including 14 Wastewater Resource Recovery Facilities, over 90 pumping systems, combined sewer overflow facilities, and more. BWT is undergoing a digital transformation focused on four pillars: SCADA Support and Development, IT Support and Cybersecurity, Asset Management, and Application Development. This transformation aims to modernize operations and improve resilience, efficiency, and data-driven decision-making.

The Bureau of Wastewater Treatment (BWT) is seeking a skilled and reliable IT professional to serve as a Network Support Specialist within its IT Support group. This position focuses primarily on the planning, support, and maintenance of local and wide-area network infrastructure at BWT's wastewater treatment plants, field offices, and collections facilities throughout the five boroughs. The selected candidate will also provide telecommunications support and play a crucial role in BWT's transition from Cisco to Arista networking hardware.

Key Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
-Install, configure, and support networking hardware, including switches, routers, access points, and wireless infrastructure.
-Assist in network modernization projects, including hardware upgrades, equipment relocations, and structured cabling.
-Troubleshoot LAN and WAN connectivity issues at field locations and provide responsive support.
-Work closely with the Bureau of Information Technology (BIT), vendors, and contractors to coordinate site deployments and upgrades.
-Maintain accurate documentation, including network diagrams, IP inventories, and cabling layouts.
-Provide secondary support for telecommunications systems such as cellular signal boosters, fire alarm lines, and dedicated data circuits.
-Ensure all work complies with DEP's EEO and EHS standards and promotes a safe, inclusive work environment.

IT AUTOMATION AND MONITORING E - 95712

Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree in computer science, engineering or a related field from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to IT automation engineering, monitoring engineering, management of infrastructure; or

2. Eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to IT automation engineering, monitoring engineering, management of infrastructure;

3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above.
