Your Role:
We are excited to open a Bioprocess Applications Engineer 3 position within the Single Use and Integrated Systems R&D team, part of MilliporeSigma's Process Solutions business unit. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing innovative products for the processing and purification of pharmaceutical and biotech product streams. This position will be based at our Bedford, MA campus. As a key member of our product development teams, you will thrive in a dynamic environment where your contributions will be valued.

Your Role:

Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership in upstream bioprocessing and cell culture with a strong focus on the integration of PAT to optimize upstream workflows
- Lead the planning and execution of bioprocessing application studies to assess new products in a laboratory environment, ensuring timely data analysis and effective communication of results to project teams, stakeholders, and sponsors
- Articulate the bioprocessing end-user perspective by understanding process design targets, performance expectations, competitive offerings, and technology gaps; propose innovative solutions and actionable next steps to meet these objectives
- Monitor the competitive landscape and application trends for assigned products, offering applications insights to the product development team to refine product design and align with market demands
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams that include R&D, Manufacturing, Product Management, Commercial, Quality, and Procurement to drive product concepts through development and validation to achieve successful commercialization
- Develop customer-facing collaterals, including application notes, webinars, and performance guides, that effectively highlight the value of new solutions
Who You Are:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering field (e.g., Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, etc.) or a Life Science field (e.g., Biochemistry, Chemistry, etc.) with 5+ years of experience

- Master's Degree in an Engineering field (e.g., Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, etc.) or a Life Science field (e.g., Biochemistry, Chemistry, etc.) with 3+ years of experience

- PhD with Engineering field (e.g., Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, etc.) or a Life Science field (e.g., Biochemistry, Chemistry, etc.) with 1+ years of experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct product development or biomanufacturing process development experience
- Strong technical expertise and hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture, bioreactor operation, intensified bioprocessing, and the application of PAT in upstream bioprocessing
- Demonstrated leadership in managing projects of moderate complexity, ensuring timely delivery of results while utilizing excellent problem-solving, teamwork, facilitation, and analytical skills
- Effective communicator with the ability to engage peers, customers, vendors, and stakeholders through clear written reports, impactful presentations, and timely discussions
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate resources and manage time effectively across multiple projects
- Ability to apply engineering and scientific principles to address complex technical challenges
- Hands on experience with sterile sampling technologies in development or manufacturing settings
- Knowledge of product and process development activities, including design of experiments (DOE), FMEA, design for manufacturing, test method development, and qualification/validation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
