Duration: 12 month+ contract with option to hire
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Have a minimum of 2 years accumulated experience proficiency in the system being worked on.
- Be capable of performing the following work operations or job activities without supervision or direction:
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in engineering, furnishing, installing, and testing of:
- Telecom network cabling including but not limited to: single-mode fiber, multi-mode fiber, Cat5 cabling, Cat6 cabling, OM3, OM4, Multi-Mode Fiber, DS I cabling, DS3/Coaxial cabling, timing cabling, alarming and monitoring.
- Telecom environment infrastructure including but not limited to raised floors, equipment racks and cabinets, equipment anchoring, ladder rack and ironwork, fiber trough, cable management, frame grounding, and fire stopping.
- Telecom -48V DC power cabling including but not limited to: BDCBB to fuse panel, fuse panel to network equipment, fuses, and breakers.
- Be capable of performing as the Installation Supplier s in-charge person on Common Systems jobs.
- Not perform work operations/job activities on working equipment or circuits unless directly supervised.
- Perform site surveys to engineer, furnish and Install (EF&I) equipment in a Data Center or Central Office environment.
- Develop documents including Engineer Packages, MOP's (Method of Procedure), cut-sheets and BOM's (Bill of Materials) for installation projects.
- Act as customer contact for installation services of equipment nationwide and direct installation forces on equipment installation and second level support.
- Must have detailed knowledge of customer Engineering and Installation procedures, standards and quality requirements to include TP76300, GR1275, NSTD119 as well as various other customer standard guidelines.
- Performs work in central office spaces understanding the requirements and policies working in a live system environment
- Ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds
- Ability to travel up to 90% of the time
- Ability to work non-standard hours to support maintenance window activities; typically, from 10:00 pm 6:00 am, Mon-Fri and weekends.
Education and Experience Requirements
- High School degree and Associate degree or bachelor s degree preferred
- Minimum of 2 years experience working with various network elements
- Experience working in a central office location
- Hands on experience installing and testing various network elements
- Is considered a Level 3 or Level 4 installer and/or tester
- Knowledge of working in data center and mobile switching office environments
- Good Understanding of Telcordia installation standards
