Job Overview

Mando Technologies is seeking an experienced and hands-on Lead AWS Software Engineer for a long-term engagement with one of our Fortune 100 clients in the financial services and insurance sector. The ideal candidate is a seasoned cloud engineer with deep knowledge of AWS platforms, cloud-native development, infrastructure as code, and agile delivery methodologies.

This role involves a strong mix of technical leadership, cloud architecture consultation, hands-on development, and mentoring junior engineers. You'll partner with global engineering teams, drive cloud adoption patterns, and help shape a secure and scalable DevSecOps ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a cloud enablement leader across multiple AWS accounts and global engineering teams.
  • Guide internal teams in designing and optimizing AWS architectures, including cost, security, and scalability considerations.
  • Build, maintain, and promote reusable cloud patterns, templates, and libraries for enterprise use.
  • Lead proof-of-concept initiatives for cloud tools and reusable patterns.
  • Collaborate with product managers and cross-functional stakeholders to define and influence the technical roadmap.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and promote best practices in DevOps and CI/CD workflows.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing across teams.
  • Provide Level 3 production support and troubleshooting when necessary.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on cloud-native application development.
  • Deep expertise in AWS services including:
    • RDS, EC2, Lambda, Containers (Fargate/ECS/EKS), VPCs, Peering, PrivateLink, IAM
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • Python, TypeScript, AWS CDK, CloudFormation
    • CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
  • Solid knowledge of cloud security, networking, monitoring, and observability tools:
    • CloudWatch, Datadog, Splunk
  • Proven ability to build and support highly available, secure, and resilient applications in AWS.
  • Understanding of DR/HA strategies and infrastructure resilience.
  • Agile delivery mindset, including using metrics and retrospectives to improve team output.
  • Excellent communicator capable of explaining technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience mentoring or coaching engineers in a leadership capacity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Generative AI tools, such as GitHub Copilot, responsibly in engineering workflows.
  • Background in the financial services or insurance domain is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Agile SAFe methodology and enterprise product development practices.
  • AWS Associate or Professional-level Certification preferred.
