Freese and Nichols, Inc. (FNI) is currently searching for a well-rounded Dam and Levee Senior Engineer for our Water Resources Design Group in Texas.

This position requires an experienced engineer to serve as a project manager or senior technical advisor in the field of water resources with emphasis on heavy civil projects including dams and levees. Candidate will be responsible for leading the analysis, design, and preparation of technical reports, plans, specifications and estimates. The Candidate will work independently as well as plan and supervise work of teams of professionals and technicians in Colorado, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, Texas, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, West Virginia, and Virginia. Interest and ability to supervise, coach and mentor staff is strongly desired. The position involves client interaction and commitment to client service. The position also encompasses business development activities, including proposal preparation, client visits, and some marketing activities.

Functional Responsibilities:
- Serve as Senior Technical Advisor or Project Manager for large complex projects requiring intergroup skills and external consultant management.
- Maintain effective communications with client, client's staff, and regulatory agencies.
- Provide coordination and supervision of multi-discipline team of engineers, engineering technicians, designers, drafting personnel, scientists, etc., assigned to projects. Coordinate assigned work to ensure continuity, consistency, and quality.
- Oversee complex studies and investigations. Investigate new areas of technology or new applications of existing techniques. Define tasks to be conducted by others, and provide general supervision, review, and approval. Responsible for collecting, correlating, and preparing recommendations and conclusions for reports.
- Evaluate and analyze project decisions to ensure objectivity, soundness of design, and impact of those decisions on schedule, budget, and needs.
- Track team and project financials including preparation of status reports.
- Keep the Group Manager and/or project team abreast of all project activities, responding promptly to needs, problems, or requests associated with project design. Maintain timeliness and technical correctness of a project to ensure high-quality work that meets the client's budget and expectations.
- Remain state-of-the-art on existing and pending regulations and related technological advancements.
- Participate in the administration, interpretation, and implementation of contracts.
Qualifications
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience of more than 20 years in engineering for dams, levees, and flood control structures.
- Education - B.S. degree in Engineering
- Excellent communication skills - both technical writing and oral.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a project team and oversee excellent quality of work.
- Registered with the Texas Board of Professional Engineers
