Job Description: System Engineer

Location: Austin, TX

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled System Engineer to join our team in Austin, TX. The ideal candidate will be responsible for requirement analysis, solution design, system validation, coordination between offshore and onsite teams, software rollout, user training, and ongoing system support and optimization. The role involves working with Lotus Notes architecture, custom tools, and COTS applications while ensuring compliance, data security, and system efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

The System Engineer will conduct requirement analysis and elicitation through stakeholder discussions, performing impact analysis on existing modules and designing feasible solutions. They will develop use cases and conduct feasibility analysis within Lotus Notes architecture while creating solution designs, dry runs, and Minutes of Meeting.

The role includes reviewing and validating implemented solutions against finalized requirements, ensuring compliance with data security and boundary conditions, and tracing requirement coverage using developed use cases. The engineer will validate interfaces with in-house and Commercial Off-The-Shelf tools, which are accessible only within the FCA network, and test WebServices for data exchange with other applications, adhering to NAFTA-based licensing restrictions.

The System Engineer will conduct User Acceptance Testing with stakeholders, record feedback in Rational Doors, and document discussions, changes, and improvement suggestions. They will communicate with offshore teams and follow up for UAT approval before moving solutions to production.

Additional responsibilities include deploying new features to the user community and conducting classroom training, walk-in clinics, and sharing pre-recorded videos. The engineer will resolve implementation queries, demonstrate solutions to stakeholders, and record feedback while tracking schedules and updating Query Log documents. They will also plan validation and rollout strategies.

The role requires using the Lotus Notes admin console for advanced troubleshooting, addressing critical user issues, and logging/tracking resolutions. The engineer will generate monthly reports on issues raised versus closed and monitor recovery schedules, working with server and third-party teams for data restoration.

The System Engineer will analyze processes to identify gaps for improvement, discuss enhancements with stakeholders, and create mockups and Statements of Work. They will optimize data transfer, storage, and resource utilization while proposing value-add features for future releases.

Qualifications & Skills

      • Experience with Lotus Notes architecture, COTS tools, and WebServices
      • Strong skills in requirement analysis, solution design, and validation
      • Proficiency in UAT, stakeholder communication, and issue tracking
      • Knowledge of data security, compliance, and recovery processes
      • Ability to coordinate between offshore and onsite teams
      • Experience in software rollout, training, and system optimization

Work Environment

    • Must work within FCA network due to data security and IP restrictions
