BigBear.ai is seeking a Systems Engineer/Administrator to join our DIA Support team. The candidate will work closely with the development team and our customers in the DoD and IC. The position will be on-site in Herndon, VA and requires a TS/SCI w/Poly.

What you will do

BigBear.ai is looking for a Systems Engineer/Administrator to join a team in Herndon, VA. The candidate will work within a cross-functional Agile scrum team and will be responsible for integrating and troubleshooting deployed systems.
  • Responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of server infrastructure with a strong focus on Linux and other UNIX-based operating systems
  • Manage and secure a hybrid environment, which involves overseeing access and security policies, particularly through SSH.
  • Proficient in container-based environments, such as Alpine, ensuring system stability and scalability.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining automation scripts using Python and Bash to streamline tasks and manage system configurations efficiently.

What you need to have

  • A Bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant experience OR a Master's degree with 3 years of relevant experience; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree requirement
  • Must maintain an active TS/SCI with current poly
  • Significant experience administering Linux or other UNIX-based systems.
  • Experience working with Alpine or other container-based operating environments.
  • Skilled in working with DevOps or DevSecOps teams to deploy and troubleshoot systems
  • Experience creating and maintaining shell scripts, including Python and Bash
  • Managing SSH access and security policies across a hybrid environment.

What we'd like you to have

  • Security+ or equivalent certification and willingness to serve as a privileged user and systems administrator
