Engineering Technician 6 (Power Generation - Electrical)

Job Summary: Talent Software Services is in search of a Engineering Technician 6 (Power Generation - Electrical) for a contract to hire position in Overland Park, KS.

Position Summary: We are seeking electrical technicians/designers to support the design of power plant projects. This role functions in a senior lead engineering technician capacity and involves modifying or creating deliverables and performing assignments of a design nature by applying basic engineering principles and established design practices to develop complex design concepts. The position provides technical guidance and may direct other engineering professionals.

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Provide guidance and direction by utilizing knowledge of standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, applicable codes, and company policies and procedures.
  • Review project requirements to accurately determine the correct format and contents of the required deliverables.
  • Promote quality within the project/group/section and review design inputs to ensure consistency.
  • Ensure deliverables are in compliance with specific codes and standards suitable for the project.
  • Responsible for drawing control and historical records, utilizing the appropriate method as established by the project.
  • Apply basic engineering principles and established design practices in developing moderately complex design concepts and deliverables.
  • Perform design calculations, detailed material quantities and estimates, and records.
  • Use advanced applications (e.g., modeling and design software) in performance of work provided.
  • Coordinate with other design group personnel to review and exchange project information necessary for design development.
  • Communicate project design requirements, progress, and schedules.
  • Assist with identification of key client interests and drivers and communicate these to project team members.
  • Assist discipline or department management in developing and communicating appropriate design standards and process improvement activities.
  • Assist with functions including performance management process, recognition, and corrective actions.
  • Supervise engineering technicians, including mentoring, instructing, delegation of work, and providing feedback.
  • Assist in monitoring staffing levels and available skill sets for project(s).


Qualifications:

  • Advanced ability to model equipment for layouts.
  • Experience with circuit routing QAs.
  • Advanced knowledge of sizing of raceways, conduits, and cable tray.
  • Advanced ability to layout duct banks, cable tray, non-seg bus, cable bus, and embedded conduits.
  • Advanced ability to coordinate across disciplines.
  • Ability to prepare Bluebeam markups for team delegation.

  • Intermediate industry knowledge and technology trends.
  • Intermediate knowledge of company quality program.
  • Advanced ability to interpret engineering deliverable content as assigned.
  • Advanced knowledge of other disciplines.
  • Basic knowledge of construction and constructability practices and principles.
  • Intermediate knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides related to assigned engineering discipline.
  • Basic knowledge of procurement and contract administration.
  • Basic knowledge of process, procedures for project controls, and estimating.
  • Basic knowledge of management techniques and company/division HR programs, policies, procedures, and organization structure.
  • Intermediate knowledge of circuit routing.
  • Intermediate knowledge of lighting design, preferred AGI 32 experience.
