Job Title: Sr. IT Business Analyst

Duration: 6+ Months

Location: Kansas City or Houston

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Sr. IT Business Analyst to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of IT applications that support our engineering, field service, quality management, operations and back-office teams. This role will serve as the bridge between business stakeholders and Agile development teams ensuring that software products both custom-built and commercial meet evolving business needs and deliver measurable value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and Agile software development teams for both proprietary and off-the-shelf applications.
  • Own the product backlog: define, prioritize, and refine user stories, acceptance criteria, and business requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with development teams and other internal IT resources to ensure high-quality and timely product delivery.
  • Champion the voice of the user throughout the development lifecycle to ensure solutions align with business goals.
  • Conduct stakeholder interviews, user research, and system analysis to define current-state challenges and future-state requirements.
  • Facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by coordinating with business users, managing test plans, capturing feedback, and ensuring successful validation of product functionality.
  • Clearly communicate release notes and updates to end-users and stakeholders, ensuring smooth transitions and adoption of new features and changes.
  • Hold necessary ceremonies to encourage a cadence of accountability and transparency, ensuring development team is holding true to their commitments.
  • Build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships across departments including Engineering, Operations, HR, Finance, and Field Services to align priorities and ensure consistent delivery.
  • Manage vendor relationships and coordinate integration efforts for off-the-shelf solutions.
  • Work within and across multiple project management frameworks including Agile (Scrum, Kanban), Waterfall, and hybrid models, depending on the application and project scope.
  • Continuously evaluate product performance and user satisfaction; adjust the product roadmap based on feedback and evolving priorities.
  • Support change management efforts, including user training, documentation, and stakeholder communications.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role in IT.
  • Proven ability to manage both proprietary (custom) and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software applications.
  • Strong understanding of Agile software development processes and experience working directly with Scrum or Kanban teams.
  • Proficient in project management and productivity tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, MS Project).
  • Experience gathering and documenting business requirements and translating them into technical deliverables.
  • Experience facilitating UAT and delivering high-quality user communications.
  • Strong analytical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities.
  • Up to 25% travel to major office locations (Sedalia, Missouri and Houston, Texas)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry experience in manufacturing, engineering, or construction environments.
  • Familiarity with ITIL, Lean Six Sigma, or other process improvement frameworks.
  • Certification(s) such as Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), PMI-ACP, or SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager.
  • Experience with ERP systems, maintenance management systems, or project controls tools.
