Job Details

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of FHIR R4-compliant APIs for medication-related workflows.
  • Integrate and optimize Surescripts RTPC, ePrescriber, and Touchless PA across internal and client-facing platforms.
  • Collaborate with EHR vendors, PBMs, and specialty pharmacies to ensure interoperability and certification compliance.
  • Develop SMART on FHIR applications and CDS Hooks for clinical decision support.
  • Build and maintain secure, scalable RESTful APIs using modern development frameworks.
  • Participate in HL7 Connectathons and contribute to interoperability initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, HITRUST, and other healthcare data security standards.
  • Troubleshoot integration issues and provide technical support during onboarding and go-live phases.
  • Document architecture, workflows, and implementation guides for internal and external stakeholders.

Skills and Experience Required:

Required:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience implementing Surescripts products, including RTPC, ePrescriber, and Touchless PA.
  • Strong understanding of HL7 FHIR (R4 preferred) and healthcare data exchange standards.
  • Proficiency in RESTful API development and integration.
  • Experience with SMART on FHIR, CDS Hooks, and OAuth2/OpenID Connect.
  • Solid programming skills in one or more languages: Java, Python, JavaScript (Node.js), C#.
  • Familiarity with NCPDP SCRIPT, X12, and other pharmacy-related standards.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Knowledge of DevOps tools: Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, GitHub Actions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in remote team environments.

Desired:

  • HL7 FHIR Certification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Mirth Connect, Redox, or InterSystems HealthShare.
  • Prior participation in HL7 or NCPDP working groups.
  • Familiarity with EHR systems and pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs).
