Job Summary
The Production Engineer is a hands-on role responsible for supporting daily manufacturing operations, leading process and equipment improvement initiatives, and ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance. This position works closely with operations, maintenance, and management to provide technical expertise in equipment design, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement within an industrial manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead or assist in the design, installation, commissioning, and startup of new process equipment and system upgrades.
Evaluate and troubleshoot process, mechanical, or equipment performance issues.
Develop and implement process improvements to enhance safety, reliability, and production efficiency.
Prepare and maintain process documentation including P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and equipment specifications.
Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams during construction and installation projects.
Support preventive maintenance and mechanical integrity programs.
Ensure compliance with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Provide technical support to production and maintenance staff.
Participate in root cause analyses and continuous improvement initiatives.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a chemical, industrial, or manufacturing environment.
Hands-on experience with process equipment such as pumps, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, reactor systems, and piping preferred.
Special Requirements
Ability to work safely in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Willingness to support occasional overtime or weekend work during installations or plant outages.
Ability to perform field-based work, including climbing and lifting as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Practical knowledge of pump sizing, installation, and troubleshooting.
Understanding of heat transfer equipment, pressure vessels, and reactor systems.
Familiarity with piping design, instrumentation, and basic process controls.
Knowledge of process safety and mechanical integrity practices.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Additional Desired Characteristics
Experience supporting continuous improvement or reliability initiatives.
Exposure to capital projects or equipment upgrades in an industrial setting.
Familiarity with management of change (MOC) or safety review processes.
Work Environment
On-site role at an industrial manufacturing facility within a regional location.
Regular field work around operating process units.
Standard business hours with flexibility to meet operational needs.
