Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Tableau Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize our Tableau Server environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Tableau infrastructure, security, upgrades, and performance tuning, and will play a key role in enabling scalable, secure, and efficient BI solutions for business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain Tableau Server and Tableau Online environments, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Manage user access, roles, groups, and permissions in alignment with data security policies.
- Monitor server health, usage statistics, and job schedules; troubleshoot and resolve performance or connectivity issues.
- Perform Tableau Server installations, upgrades, patches, and backups in coordination with IT teams.
- Support deployment of dashboards from development to production environments.
- Implement and enforce governance policies, folder structures, naming conventions, and best practices.
- Collaborate with Tableau developers, business analysts, and data engineers to support publishing and automation workflows.
- Optimize data extracts, schedules, and queries to enhance dashboard performance.
- Maintain integration with other platforms such as Active Directory, RDBMS, and cloud sources (AWS, Azure, etc.).
- Provide technical documentation, user training, and support for Tableau users across the organization.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Tableau Server or Tableau Online Administrator.
- Strong understanding of Tableau architecture, including clustering, data engine, and VizQL processes.
- Experience managing user access via Active Directory, SAML, or other authentication methods.
- Familiarity with Tableau Prep, Tableau Bridge, and Tableau REST API.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
- Solid understanding of SQL and experience connecting Tableau to relational databases.
- Strong troubleshooting, performance tuning, and root cause analysis skills.
- Knowledge of data governance, compliance, and version control practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Tableau Desktop or Server certification (e.g., Tableau Certified Associate or Specialist).
- Experience with cloud-based BI deployments (e.g., Tableau on AWS or Azure).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices in BI environments.
- Exposure to additional tools such as Alteryx, Power BI, or Snowflake is a plus
