Project Manager - Infrastructure Projects
Bay Area, California - Hybrid (1-2 days per week in Oakland office)
This role requires a hybrid work arrangement with 1-2 days per week on-site in Oakland.

Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead large-scale infrastructure projects within a dynamic utility environment. In this role, you will oversee the complete lifecycle of complex telecom and IT infrastructure initiatives, from initial planning through successful deployment and implementation. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve coordinating cross-functional teams, managing project timelines and budgets, and ensuring seamless execution of critical infrastructure deployments across data centers and field facilities.
The successful candidate will have significant impact on modernizing and maintaining essential infrastructure systems that support millions of customers. You'll collaborate closely with engineering teams, vendor partners, and executive stakeholders to deliver projects that enhance system reliability, security, and performance. The role exists to address the growing need for sophisticated project management expertise as the company continues to expand and modernize its infrastructure capabilities. You will report to senior management and may supervise professional, technical, and administrative personnel throughout project execution.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of large-scale telecom infrastructure projects across data centers and field facilities
- Develop comprehensive project proposals, planning strategies, and decision-making frameworks
- Oversee project fiscal management and budget control for complex infrastructure initiatives
- Supervise professional, technical, and administrative personnel throughout project execution
- Coordinate deployments involving network technologies such as routers, switches, firewalls, and access points
- Manage transmission systems projects including microwave, satellite, and fiber implementations
- Oversee telephony, storage, servers, and common telecom facilities deployments
- Ensure successful implementation of generators, batteries, telecom buildings, and mobile radio systems
- Lead directory services and configuration management project initiatives
- Manage security-related infrastructure and application deployments
- Develop and execute IT governance, project methodologies, procedures, and processes
- Build and lead motivated, collaborative, and productive cross-functional teams
Required Experience/Skills
- 8+ years of project management experience managing large, complex infrastructure projects
- Active PMP (Project Management Professional) certification - must be current and valid
- Extensive experience with telecom infrastructure projects (highly preferred)
- Experience managing directory services and configuration management projects
- Proven experience managing security-related infrastructure and applications
- Extensive experience developing and executing IT governance and project methodologies
- Demonstrated ability to build motivated, collaborative cross-functional teams
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all organizational levels
- Proven ability to influence teams and drive performance toward common goals
- Exceptional organizational and time management capabilities
- Highly analytical and methodical approach with strong problem-solving abilities
- Must be local to the Bay Area (no relocation assistance available)
Nice-to-Haves
- NERC CIP project experience is highly desirable
- Experience working in data center or field-based environments
- Familiarity with multiplexing technologies
- Some exposure to application projects
- Experience in utility or energy sector environments
- Working knowledge of technology vendors, products, and development alternatives
- Proven business skills including financial analysis and budgeting
- Experience establishing effective working relationships with external customers
Education
- Active PMP (Project Management Professional) certification required
- Bachelor's degree preferred but not specified as mandatory
