Job Details

Amentum is seeking a Deck Engineering Technician III (Small Boat Operator Instructor) with small craft experience in Naval Amphibious (NAB) Coronado, CA. Work is performed at Navy Training Command in Coronado, California and personnel must maintain highest standards of personal grooming and dress.

Duties:
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Propulsion systems operation and casualty control in-port and underway on small navy watercraft.
  • Perform pre-start and post-operation checks.
  • Abides to Amentum Ethics Program, Workplace Environment and Occupational Safety standards.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of work areas or assigned craft.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must have minimum six (6) years Navy BM/QM/OS rating or equivalent civilian experience.
  • Former Navy Boatswains Mate, Quarter Master, or Operations Specialist with Improved Navy Lighterage System (INLS) experience is preferred.
  • Specific experience on Improved Navy Lighterage System (INLS), MPF Utility Boat (MPFUB) and/or LARC V would be very beneficial.
  • Requires performing classroom instruction, underway laboratory training, preventive and corrective maintenance and preservation of Navy small craft.
  • Proficiency in MS Office preferred.
  • This position requires some travel.
  • Must be equivalent to Navy Second Class Swimmer qualified.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to obtain US Naval Base security access clearance
  • Occasionally work hours will be changed based on the type of training required.
  • Some overtime can be expected.
  • Work environment/Conditions: Both inside and outside environment.

Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits:

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.

Compensation & Benefits:

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $26.07 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
