Key Responsibilities
- Medicaid Accessibility Audits: Conduct comprehensive accessibility audits of Medicaid web applications, with a focus on provider enrollment, prior authorization, Medicaid analytics, and fee-for-service claims portals. Identify accessibility issues unique to Medicaid user populations, including providers and beneficiaries.
- Issue Resolution & Compliance: Develop and implement solutions to remediate accessibility issues, ensuring all Medicaid applications comply with WCAG 2.2, ADA, Section 508, and specific accessibility standards. Collaborate with state and local agencies to address regulatory requirements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including developers, business analysts, and Medicaid subject matter experts to integrate accessibility best practices into the design and development of Medicaid systems.
- Training & Guidance: Provide targeted training and guidance to team members on accessibility standards and best practices, with a focus on Medicaid-specific workflows and user needs.
- Testing & Validation: Use assistive technologies and accessibility testing tools (e.g., JAWS, NVDA, Axe, Wave, Lighthouse) to validate the accessibility of Medicaid web applications, ensuring usability for all providers and beneficiaries.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation on accessibility standards, guidelines, and best practices tailored for Medicaid systems and internal teams.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with the latest developments in accessibility standards and technologies. Proactively suggest and implement improvements to enhance accessibility for Medicaid applications serving .
Required Qualifications
- Austin Location: Strong preference for Austin, TX candidates. Familiarity with Medicaid programs and ability to collaborate with local teams and state agencies is required.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in web accessibility, with a strong focus on healthcare, Medicaid, or government IT environments.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and ARIA standards, with hands-on experience addressing accessibility in Medicaid provider and beneficiary portals.
- Accessibility Standards: In-depth knowledge of WCAG 2.2, ADA, Section 508, and specific accessibility regulations as they apply to Medicaid systems.
- Tools & Technologies: Proficient in using accessibility testing tools (Axe, Wave, Lighthouse) and assistive technologies (JAWS, NVDA) for Medicaid web application validation.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in identifying and resolving Medicaid-specific accessibility challenges.
- Communication: Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical accessibility concepts to non-technical Medicaid stakeholders and teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- SAFe Certification: Certified in SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework), with experience integrating accessibility testing into Agile Release Trains for Medicaid modernization or enhancement projects.
- Healthcare/Medicaid Experience: Direct experience working on accessibility for Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS) or similar healthcare IT platforms, especially in provider enrollment, prior authorization, analytics, and claims modules.
- Training & Advocacy: Experience developing and delivering accessibility training programs for Medicaid project teams.
