Job Description

At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. We're turning today's impossible into tomorrow's standard -from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features.

Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Global Technical Center in Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum.

The Role

As a Staff Product Manager for In-vehicle OTA CX you will lead the strategy, design, and delivery of the in-vehicle user interface and installation experience for over-the-air (OTA) software updates. This role is pivotal in shaping how drivers interact with and perceive software updates, from notification to installation while ensuring a seamless, intuitive, and brand-aligned experience across our vehicle lineup.

You'll collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, design, UX research, quality, and customer support teams to define and deliver experiences that are not only technically robust but also delight users and reinforce trust in our connected vehicle ecosystem.

What You'll Do
  • Own the end-to-end product lifecycle for OTA update UI and install flows within the vehicle infotainment system.
  • Define product vision, strategy, and roadmap for update-related experiences, balancing user needs, technical constraints, and business goals.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to deliver intuitive, safe, and reliable update experiences-from update notifications and scheduling to installation and post-update feedback.
  • Partner with UX/UI designers to craft elegant, brand-consistent interfaces that minimize driver distraction and maximize clarity.
  • Collaborate with platform and embedded software teams to ensure update mechanisms are performant, secure, and scalable.
  • Analyze user behavior, feedback, and telemetry to continuously improve the update experience.
  • Serve as the internal expert on OTA update UX, advocating for user-centric design and operational excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and privacy standards across all update-related touchpoints.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)
  • 7+ years of product management experience
  • Proven ability to define product strategy and drive cross-functional execution.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills; adept at influencing technical and business stakeholders.
  • Exceptional relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working with executive leadership and functional teams to drive innovation and adoption.

What will give you a competitive advantage (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Master's degree in a relevant field (MBA, Computer Science, AI, or related discipline).
  • Background in automotive, manufacturing, or large-scale industrial software environments.

Company Vehicle: Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies.

This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.
