Job Description

ECS is seeking a Database Administrator to work remotely .

ECS is seeking a passionate MS SQL Database Administrator to support a rapidly growing Data Analytics and Business Intelligence platform focused on providing data solutions that empower our Federal customers. Your main priority will be supporting migration/modernization efforts focused on managing on-premise database environments proactively and ensuring database performance, availability, and security. As we continue our growth, you will also play a key role in ensuring scalability of our data systems in cloud/serverless database environments.

Responsibilities include:
  • Ensuring the availability and performance of the databases that support our systems, ensuring that they have sufficient resources allocated to support high resilience and speed.
  • Performing and assisting developers in ongoing performance tuning and migrating databases to modern solutions within Azure cloud and serverless.
  • Supporting the development team with in-depth analysis of database sources, ETL processes, and downstream reporting product utilization and complexity evaluations.
  • Proactively monitoring the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime and improve maintenance of the databases to include rollouts, patching, and upgrades.
  • Creating and maintaining technical documentation using defined technical documentation templates, as well as gaining an in-depth knowledge of the business data so you can propose and implement effective solutions.
  • Working within a structured and agile development approach.
Salary Range: $120,000 - $140,000

Required Skills

  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
  • 5+ years' experience in using Database Management Systems
  • Experience with designing, setting up, monitoring and maintaining MS SQL instances (on-prem and Azure Cloud)
  • Experience with setting up, monitoring, and maintaining MS SQL backup and disaster recovery processes
  • Familiarity with data pipeline and workflow management tools
  • Strong understanding of MS Windows Server operating systems and complex ETL jobs
  • Comprehensive understanding of MS SQL access management and integration with frontend applications
  • Comfortable independently troubleshooting and proactively highlighting issues to the broader development team and customer
  • Experience with working in cloud environments (AWS/Azure)


Desired Skills

  • Experience implementing and maintaining data warehouses
  • Experience with MS/Azure SQL including managed instances and unmanaged Virtual Machines
  • Prior professional services or federal consulting experience; experience supporting DHS preferred
  • Understanding of containerization tools (e.g., Docker)
  • Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with the Atlassian suite (Jira/Confluence)
  • Interest in staying up to date with the latest in database technologies
