Job Title: Fiber Technician
Summary of Responsibilities:
Install fiber optic cabling, patch panels, racks, and related hardware for both single-mode and multi-mode systems.
Test and troubleshoot fiber optic connections using OTDR and Fiber Optic Multimeter. Calculate loss of budgets as per TIA/EIA standards
Provide deliverables such as tickets, QA/QC images, and reports in a detailed, organized, and timely manner.
Ground equipment according to customer standards.
Terminate ribbonized and non-ribbonized optical fiber with LC and MPO/MTP connectors.
Terminate simplex and duplex jumper cords, indoor tight-buffered fibers, and breakout outside plant fiber.
Install fan-out kits, including buffer tubes, as per design specifications.
Support onsite service calls, participate in an on-call rotation
Requirements:
3 5 years of fiber installation experience preferred.
Must be capable of lifting 75 lb. occasionally and carrying 30 lb. Regularly.
Must be able to walk and stand during working hours.
Must be comfortable regularly working on 6 ladders.
Experience installing cabling and network equipment in a hyperscale environment.
Ability to safely and effectively operate hand tools such as electrician shears and screwdrivers as well as cordless drills.
Proficiency with standard fiber optic and UTP cable testing equipment (OTDR, Fiber Optic Multimeter, VFL, loopback, toner, wire map, and cat6 certifier).
Proficiency with Google Workspace products.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Willing to travel by air or personal vehicle for 20% of regular schedule.
Basic knowledge of fiber optic terminology.
Preferred:
Networking or cabling certifications: Corning, FOA, BICSI, CCNT, CCNA, Network+.
Willing to work 4-day workweek schedule with 10-hour shifts, including one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday) as part of the regular workweek.
Experience installing Ciena equipment.
Familiarity with Juniper, Cisco, and Arista network hardware.
Experience terminating fiber optic and UTP cables.

Compensation and Benefits
A candidate s pay within the range will depend on their work location, skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to company policies.
