Fiber Optic Splicing Technician

Overview:
This role is ideal for someone with a construction or telecom background who enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, and working outdoors or in varied environments. You'll be responsible for splicing and testing fiber optic cables to support reliable network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Splice various types of fiber optic cable, including single-mode, multimode, ribbon, and stranded
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic technical issues in the field
  • Read and interpret maps, blueprints, and technical drawings
  • Perform daily maintenance and checks on splicing and testing equipment
  • Conduct optical continuity and performance tests using tools like OTDR
  • Make updates to existing fiber setups in underground, aerial, buried, and building locations

Skills & Experience:
  • Experience in construction, telecom, or underground fiber work
  • Experience with fiber splicing (especially ribbon splicing)
  • Familiarity with fiber optic testing tools and techniques
  • Knowledge of single-mode fiber and terminations

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
