The Search Engine Optimization (SEO) team defines and builds features that optimize the way customers find and reach relevant eBay pages when searching on search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. With literally hundreds of millions of products listed on eBay globally at any time, the scale at which eBay has to consider search engine optimization puts our team in a unique position to innovate and provide immediate value to the business.
SEO at eBay is a fun and challenging environment, where every day you will be finding solutions for eBay's global scale and unique breadth of inventory. Your work will directly improve the experience of hundreds of millions of buyers and sellers, around the world as they interact with billions of listings. eBay's SEO team are recognized as industry leaders, regularly piloting the latest initiatives in collaboration with the world's largest search engines, and pioneering new techniques and ways of working.
What you will accomplish:
This role is crucial for ensuring that eBay's most valuable pages are found by search engines, and appear in their results for the most appropriate queries. You'll get to work on the fundamentals of SEO technology like robots.txt, sitemaps.xml and metadata as well as new and leading CDN edge computing projects.
You will participate and contribute to major development applications covering all the data and experience lifecycle - from big data processing, through systems which process hundreds of millions of events daily, high availability site facing services who answer billions of requests in a very short SLA, all the way to the front end experience. This is your way to make a direct impact on eBay's site and its customers.

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:
$166,400 - $222,100
Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employees will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

- Developing high-quality Java applications that integrate with backend systems
- Designing and implementing engaging, responsive frontend components using modern Javascript frameworks
- Demonstrating expertise in design and implementation
- Documenting code and systems
- Supporting production applications
If you have experience with clean code, design patterns, code quality and open source technologies, we'll be more than happy to see the following competencies as well:
- 5+ years' experience in server-side development in Java
- 3+ years of experience developing frontend applications using JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent (BSc)
- Experience with Spring framework
- Experience with frontend frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js
- Experience with OO design and design patterns
- Experience in building Restful services
- Experience in working with agile development methodologies
- Team player with a willingness to collaborate
- Flexibility and passion for learning new domains
The following competencies would be a great advantage:
- Major experience in multi-threading development
- Experience with databases
- Hands on with Hadoop, Hive and HDFS
- Hands on with streaming data solutions using Apache Flink
- Experience with Kafka in microservices environment
- Experience in deploying and managing edge workers
- Experience with modern build tools and bundlers (e.g., Webpack, Vite)
- Knowledge of automated frontend testing (Jest, Cypress, etc.)
