Role Name: SAP Funds Management (FM) SME
Location: Remote + occasional travel to Washington, DC
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced SAP Funds Management (FM) Consultant to support and enhance financial planning, budgeting, and fund control processes using the SAP FM module. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in configuring and maintaining SAP FM, strong financial acumen, and the ability to align financial systems with organizational goals. This role requires close collaboration with finance, IT, and business teams to ensure optimal fund utilization and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and contribute to SAP FM workstreams, including solution design and hands-on configuration.
Configure and implement SAP S/4HANA Public Sector Management Funds Management (PSM-FM) functionalities.
Set up budget structures, funds centers, commitment items, and budget distribution processes.
Enable and manage availability control to enforce budgetary compliance.
Maintain and troubleshoot SAP FM configurations to support ongoing operations.
Oversee full lifecycle of funds from planning and allocation to monitoring and control.
Generate and analyze detailed financial reports to support decision-making.
Ensure integration between FM and other SAP modules such as FI, CO, MM, PS, and SD.
Support audits, compliance, and period-end financial closing activities.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to train users and implement effective financial controls.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
7 10 years of SAP experience with a strong background in leading workstreams, solution architecture, and hands-on configuration.
Deep expertise in SAP FM, including master data, budget control, and derivation logic.
Strong understanding of finance, accounting, and public sector budgeting principles.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Effective communication and documentation skills, both written and verbal.
Experience integrating SAP FM with modules such as FI, CO, MM, SD, and PS.
Public Sector or Government experience is highly desirable.
