Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join our team with a strong focus on media full-stack and backend development. The ideal candidate will have expertise in PHP, React, and C/C++, which are used for building media-related applications and services, as well as a solid understanding of media ingestion, encoding, backend engineering principles, and media stack technologies. In this role, the candidate will work closely with a senior software engineer to design, develop, test, and debug complex software systems, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance.

Job Responsibilities

  • Debug complex systems, including those related to media ingestion, to identify and resolve issues affecting performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Implement best practices for operational excellence, ensuring reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Develop and implement monitoring and alerting systems to detect issues before they become critical, ensuring prompt resolution and minimizing downtime.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, communicating technical information effectively to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring shared understanding of issues and resolutions.
  • Design and develop media full-stack and backend systems using PHP, React, and C/C++.
  • Collaborate with media engineers to optimize media ingestion and encoding processes, improving overall system performance and user experience.
  • Troubleshoot issues and implement system changes as needed, specifically within the media stack.

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Basic mentoring skills to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
  • Knowledge of the full software development lifecycle-from business/systems analysis and requirements gathering to functional specification authoring, development, testing, and delivery.
  • Strong understanding of media ingestion, encoding, backend engineering principles, and media stack technologies.
  • Proficiency in PHP, React, and C/C++.
  • Experience with media full-stack and backend development, including design, implementation, and maintenance of complex software systems.

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field required.
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on media full-stack and backend development.
  • Media stack experience (ingestion and encoding) and familiarity with encoding formats such as AV1 and HEVC are highly desirable.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $80.00/hr.
