Job Title: Sr. HTML Specialist
Location: New York City, NY Hybrid Role
The Opportunity:
We re looking for a senior front-end design technologist who specializes in one of the most demanding forms of digital craftsmanship: HTML email development. This full-time, U.S.-based contract role is for someone who is not only deeply familiar with the quirks and constraints of email clients but finds joy in outsmarting them building layouts that look beautiful and perform flawlessly across desktop, mobile, and tablet in both light and dark modes.
You ll join the global technology team within Apollo, reporting to the Head of UX & Creative and partnering closely with design, content, and technology leads. Your work will bring our internal campaigns and communications to life at scale, supporting sophisticated enterprise needs with the speed and reliability they demand.
It's very, very important that this person be more than just a front-end generalist (although those are good secondary skills)... they must have strong experience working at enterprise-scale specifically with HTML email templates, preferably in a B2C marketing team or similar, and be interested in continuing in that work. Folks with pedigrees at notable B2C tech firms/unicorns are of particular interest.
What We re Looking For
We need an expert email developer who thrives on precision, consistency, and the challenge of building in a medium most developers avoid. You re on target if you:
- Have 5 7+ years of experience coding HTML/CSS emails at scale for large organizations or enterprises, with a portfolio to prove it
- Are deeply fluent in the nuances of email development: nested tables, inline styles, VML for Outlook, responsive/adaptive layouts using email client-compatible media queries, and dark mode/light mode considerations
- Stay up to date on the very latest email client and rendering engine compatibility (e.g., Microsoft Word rendering in Outlook, Gmail, WebKit for Apple Mail, etc.), and the effective tricks of the trade to achieve consistently elevated, bulletproof deliverables across complex templates
- Know how to collaborate with designers and translate Figma designs into exacting, functional code
- Can write clean, well-commented markup that others can extend or troubleshoot quickly under time crunch
- Familiarity and an eye for detail with accessibility best practices in email (e.g.: semantic markup, alt text)
- Take pride in testing rigor. Litmus and similar platforms are second nature to you.
- Have experience working within Pardot, Storyports, or similar WYSIWYG campaign builders (bonus points if you ve built modular, reusable components in these tools)
- Are comfortable working fast when priorities shift without sacrificing quality or reliability
You Might Be a Fit If You
- Find the quirks of email clients more fun than frustrating building elegant code that works everywhere is a puzzle you enjoy solving
- Get satisfaction from seeing your work scaled across thousands of sends, with every detail intact
- Appreciate design craft and understand that typography, spacing, and hierarchy matter as much in an inbox as they do on the web
- Have the temperament of both a perfectionist and a pragmatist you sweat the details but know when to ship
Submission Format:
- Need updated Resume, visa copy, photo id, i94 and travel history for visa independent candidate with below details.
