RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Tampa, FL that is seeking an Operational Researcher.
Summary:
The Operational Researcher, holding a Ph.D. in Operational Research, will provide specialized analytical expertise across the multiple business units, particularly enhancing decision-making frameworks, resource optimization, and modeling complex scenarios. The role requires a deep understanding of operations research methodologies, AI applications, and robust analytical modeling techniques to inform strategic and tactical decisions.
Responsibilities:
* Conduct advanced operational research, creating and applying quantitative models (e.g., optimization, simulation, predictive analytics) to support strategic decision-making across multiple initiatives
* Collaborate closely with domain teams to identify operational challenges and analytical needs
* Lead the development and integration of innovative operational research models into the research projects to enhance prototype viability and real-world applicability
* Support projects by ensuring analytical rigor and compliance with methodological standards, providing inputs required for contract deliverables and reporting
* Mentor and collaborate with other researchers, data scientists, and engineers to effectively integrate operational research approaches with machine learning and AI technologies
* Publish and present research findings at conferences and in peer-reviewed journals to bolster the lab's visibility and intellectual leadership in AI and Operational Research
REQUIREMENTS:
* Ph.D. in Operational Research or closely related quantitative discipline (required)
* Minimum of 3-5 years of research or industry experience applying operational research methodologies to complex, multidisciplinary problems
* Proficiency in analytical tools, modeling languages, and optimization software (e.g., Python, R, Gurobi, CPLEX, MATLAB)
* Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
* Proven ability to work collaboratively in research-intensive, cross disciplinary teams
* Able to travel 25% of the time including internationally
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
