REMOTE Software Engineering Manager Senior Engineering Manager
$200K-$240K + Equity | Full-Time | Remote (US-Based)

We're looking for a Senior Engineering Manager who still thrives in the code-someone who leads with empathy, thinks in systems, and enjoys building impactful products alongside brilliant minds.

This isn't the kind of leadership role where you drift away from the codebase. You'll spend 30% of your time in the trenches-writing, reviewing, and architecting backend services in node.js and cloud environments-and the rest mentoring and scaling a high-performing engineering team.
What You'll Own

• Lead and inspire a team of backend engineers, championing quality and ownership in everything they ship.
• Stay hands-on: architect, review, and contribute to scalable backend services.
• Shape technical strategy alongside product and design leadership.
• Guide your team through development lifecycles-from planning and estimation to deployment and iteration.
• Promote production readiness and operational excellence across cloud-based systems.
• Recruit top talent and plan for long-term team capacity.

What You Bring

• 4+ years managing engineering teams and delivering production-grade software.
• Deep expertise in node.js, distributed systems, and cloud platforms (AWS or Google Cloud Platform).
• Proven ability to balance team leadership with technical contributions.
• Agile mindset and strong communication chops.
• Collaborative spirit with a drive to push technical boundaries.

Bonus Points For

• Building B2C or social products at scale.
• Experience with search infrastructure (Elasticsearch, vector DBs) or ML-driven personalization.
• Working in data-rich, high-volume environments.
