Title:

Network Engineer

The successful Network Engineer candidate will be part of the distributed KBR team supporting the Test Resource Management Center's (TRMC) All Domain Test Range (ADTR) and INDOPACOM Pacific-Rim Multi-Domain Training and Experimentation Capability Team. The successful candidate will work in the Camp Smith, Hawaii facility with the distributed team consisting of: data engineers, data scientists, software engineers, network engineers, cybersecurity, and event lead team members. The Network Admin will be expected to take over all aspects of the oversight, configuration, maintenance, and cybersecurity of: JMETC Multiple Independent Levels of Security Network (JMN) Enclave, Secret Defense Research and Engineering Network (SDREN) Enclave, Defense Research and Engineering Network (DREN) Enclave; Design, acquisition support, implementation, and administration of new procured hardware; Management and configuration of infrastructure and configuration of operating systems and to include upgrading firmware and Operating systems.

As a Network Admin, you will be a critical part of our team responsible for evaluating customer requirements pertaining to complex technical challenges. You will be responsible for keeping the team's testing environment operational and in compliance with all TRMC directives and applicable RMF requirements. To do this you will frequently work with other distributed team members to discuss current system status and desired future enhancements. Network Administrators of all seniority levels are encouraged to apply and will be considered. Experience can be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

Primary responsibilities:

Responsible for the administration of: Network hardware (switches, routers, firewalls), Computer systems hardware, software, information systems & peripheral equipment such as servers, desktops, zero clients, storage devices, and virtualization infrastructure.

Maintains, installs, upgrades and configures network equipment and data systems (Cisco, Juniper, Windows, Linux, VMWare), administers operating systems (Windows, Linux), and maintains basic security and recovery procedures such as performing patches and system backups.

Under general supervision, solves complex problems requiring detailed knowledge of field and industry best practices.

Upgrades systems and processes as required for enhanced functionality and/or security issue resolution.

Authors and/or reviews configuration change requests.

Ensures compliance with data security policies, relevant legal and regulatory requirements, and TRMC cyber security program implementation plans in accordance with TRMC directives and applicable DoD Risk management Framework (RMF) requirements.

Must have the following:

  • Cisco and / or Juniper OS configuration experience
  • Network switch and router configuration and troubleshooting experience
  • Education: Technical Bachelor's Degree (experience may be substituted in lieu of degree) and minimum 7 years of relevant experience
  • Coordination, Communication and Presentation skills
  • United States Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain a Top-Secret Clearance
  • Able to lift 35 lbs.
  • Willing to travel up to 25%

Prefer Knowledge in any or all of the following:

  • Network Firewall configuration and troubleshooting experience
  • Experience working with DoD Wide Area Networks and familiarity with various network architectures, multicast data flows, and common protocols
  • Distributed Test and or Training Experience
  • Live, Virtual and Constructive (LVC) Environments
  • DREN, SDREN and DISN engineering experience
  • Cisco and Juniper Network certifications
  • Windows Server and Red Hat systems administration experience / certifications
  • Experience in VMware environments
  • Experience maintaining systems within a DoD RMF accredited environment
  • Experience in VMware environments
