Divisional Trade Compliance Manager
Job Summary
The Divisional Trade Compliance Manager will oversee and provide guidance on the organization s trade compliance operations across U.S. and international locations. This position plays a vital role in ensuring alignment with all relevant export, trade, and government contracting requirements. The role will emphasize building and maintaining a strong compliance framework while promoting adherence to regulatory obligations and ethical practices throughout the company.
Duties and Responsibilities
Trade Compliance
- Assist with the rollout and daily management of a comprehensive compliance program covering U.S. and global trade regulations, including ITAR, EAR, and OFAC.
- Act as a primary resource for export control issues, including product classification, licensing, and related compliance matters.
- Prepare and submit export license applications, Technical Assistance Agreements (TAA), and re-export/retransfer requests.
- Partner with departments such as engineering, supply chain, and sales to ensure compliance with export and contracting rules (FAR/DFARS).
- Carry out internal compliance reviews, risk evaluations, and investigations to minimize exposure to compliance risks.
- Deliver training sessions to staff, raising awareness of trade rules and responsibilities.
- Keep organized records of licenses, audits, and employee training in line with U.S. regulatory requirements.
- Track updates to trade laws and regulations and help adjust internal policies and processes accordingly.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Regulatory Compliance
- Support compliance with federal contracting requirements and cybersecurity standards, including CMMC.
- Contribute to drafting and maintaining internal policies and guidelines for export and trade-related activities.
- Liaise with agencies such as the Department of Commerce (DOC), Department of State (DDTC), and Department of Defense (DCAA/DCMA), as required.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with leadership and operational teams to ensure trade compliance expectations are well understood across global operations.
- Provide support to program managers and other functions in resolving compliance issues and identifying opportunities.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. export regulations, including ITAR, EAR, and OFAC, along with federal contracting standards (FAR/DFARS).
- Background in export licensing, product classifications (e.g., ECCN, USML), and experience working with U.S. regulatory bodies.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, capable of translating regulatory language into practical policies and guidance.
- Must meet U.S. Person or U.S. Citizenship requirements due to export control compliance.
- Proactive approach with a focus on operational execution.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor s degree in International Business, Law, or a related discipline; advanced certifications in export compliance (such as CUSECO or ITAR Professional) preferred.
- 5 8 years of professional experience in trade compliance within multinational companies, ideally in aerospace, defense, or advanced technology industries.
