What You'll Do
The Data Storage Administrator is responsible for the configuration, management, and support of the organization's storage infrastructure. This role focuses on the implementation, optimization, and maintenance of storage systems and backup solutions to ensure data integrity, availability, and recoverability across all platforms. The administrator will support both on-premises and cloud-integrated storage systems and will work closely with system, virtualization, and network teams to ensure seamless data flow and protection.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform provisioning, monitoring, and maintenance of enterprise storage systems (SAN, NAS).
  • Administer and support backup technologies including Cohesity, Veeam, and cloud-based backup platforms.
  • Perform daily health checks, monitor usage trends, and maintain optimal performance of storage systems.
  • Assist with troubleshooting storage-related incidents and escalate issues as needed.
  • Support incident response and root cause analysis for storage-related events.
  • Maintain backup schedules, retention policies, and restore procedures
  • Maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and support runbooks.
  • Develop scripts and automation for storage provisioning and reporting.
  • Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning through replication and backup technologies (e.g., Veeam, Zerto, etc.).
  • Assist in developing and enforcing best practices for data classification, retention, and protection.
  • Participate in infrastructure projects, system upgrades, and capacity planning.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of new storage solutions and data migrations.
  • Provide support during audits and assessments regarding data availability and protection.
  • Participate in capacity planning and disaster recovery exercises.
  • Serve as a Tier 1 support for storage-related incidents, escalating to engineers as required.
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation for storage and backup infrastructure support.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Escalate complex issues to engineering or vendor support as necessary.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in IT or related field (or 3 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree).
  • Familiarity with scripting and automation tools is a plus.
  • Experience with server hardware (Cisco UCS preferred) and Windows/Linux OS.
  • Experience with vendor platforms such as Cohesity, Pure Storage, Veeam
  • Understanding of data protection, snapshot, and replication technologies
