Job Title: Data Modeler
About the Role:
Join our innovative analytics team as a Data Modeler and be instrumental in designing and building robust data models that empower data-driven decision-making across multiple domains—including Commercial Operations, Membership/Education, Product/Clinical, and Compliance/Quality. You will craft scalable, performant data models in a modern cloud environment, supporting reporting, analytics, and governance initiatives.
What You Will Do:
- Design and Develop Data Models: Create dimensional models in the Gold layer for key business domains such as orders, inventory, shipment, membership lifecycle, product catalog, and compliance data.
- Define Model Architecture: Establish model grains, surrogate keys, conformed dimensions (e.g., Customer, Product, Practitioner, Date, Geography), and role-playing dimensions to ensure consistency and reusability.
- Implement Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD): Apply SCD Type 1/2 strategies within Delta Lake/Hyperscale Lakehouse architectures to manage historical and current data for critical dimensions like Customer, Product, and Membership.
- Handle Complex Data Scenarios: Manage late-arriving facts and dimensions, inferred members, and bridge tables for many-to-many relationships (e.g., formulations with multiple actives/allergens).
- Build and Maintain Power BI Models: Develop clean, optimized semantic models, including hierarchies, relationship management, and display folders. Author DAX measures for KPIs such as revenue, margin, inventory days, membership retention, and compliance metrics.
- Advance Data Quality & Governance: Define data quality checks, manage lineage, maintain documentation, and apply sensitivity labels for PII and regulated data.
- Optimize Performance & Cost: Propose effective partitioning, clustering, indexing strategies in Delta Lake, utilize warehouse materialized views, and optimize Power BI for better performance and lower costs.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with Data Engineers, BI Analysts, and Business Stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data models. Review pipeline outputs for model readiness and accurate dating.
- Support Data Governance & Documentation: Maintain comprehensive data dictionaries, lineage diagrams, SCD behaviors, and certified metric definitions to ensure compliance and transparency.
- Contribute to Data Flow Strategies: Define Silver and Gold data contracts, specify quality checks, and review pipeline outputs for consistency and accuracy.
- Leverage Advanced Analytics & Testing: Implement testing patterns for datasets, monitor data freshness and volume drift, and use version control workflows, including Git integration, for reliable deployment.
Who You Are:
- Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of experience in data modeling or analytics engineering, with strong SQL expertise.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse/Warehouse, OneLake, Delta tables, Dataflows Gen2, or Pipelines; familiarity with SQL endpoints.
- Deep knowledge of dimensional modeling, including star schemas, fact types, bridge tables, and handling complex SCD scenarios.
- Proficiency in Power BI semantic models, DAX, and best practices for model optimization, incremental refresh, RLS, and semi-additive measures.
- Experience in data governance, lineage, and quality management.
- Strong communication skills, capable of translating stakeholder needs into clear, dimensioned data models.
- Nice-to-Have:
- Domain expertise in healthcare, life sciences, or pharmacy, including product master data, formulations, API catalogs, and regulatory artifacts.
- Performance tuning skills in Fabric, including warehouse indexing, Delta optimization, and direct-query or hybrid models.
- Experience with calculation groups, metric governance, Git workflows, and deployment pipelines.
Why Join Us?
- Be at the forefront of analytics innovation, working with cutting-edge cloud technologies.
- Collaborate with a passionate, multi-disciplinary team committed to data excellence.
- Benefit from a supportive environment that values continuous learning, professional development, and work-life balance.
If you're passionate about creating scalable data models that transform complex data into insights and want to shape the future of data analytics, we want to hear from you!
