Job Details

We are seeking an experienced Data Modeler for a technically challenging contract opportunity. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in data modeling, analytics engineering, and hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric and Power BI. As a Data Modeler, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing robust data models that support key business domains and drive insights. The position offers a flexible, hybrid work arrangement, allowing you to split your time between remote and on-site work, and is available for immediate start.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop dimensional models in the Gold layer for domains such as Commercial/Operations, Membership/Education, Product/Clinical, and Compliance/Quality.
  • Define model grain, surrogate keys, conformed dimensions, and implement role-playing dimensions to ensure scalable and maintainable data architecture.
  • Implement Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD) Type 1 and 2 in Delta (Warehouse/Lakehouse) for key dimensions including Customer, Product, Practitioner, and Membership.
  • Handle late-arriving facts and dimensions, inferred members, and construct bridge tables for many-to-many relationships (such as formulations with multiple actives or allergens).
  • Build and maintain Power BI semantic models, ensuring clean star schemas, effective relationship management, hierarchies, and display folders.
  • Author advanced DAX measures to support business KPIs, including revenue, margin, order volume, inventory metrics, membership retention, and compliance indicators.
  • Configure incremental refresh, aggregations, and Row-Level Security (RLS) in Power BI to optimize performance and ensure data governance.
  • Collaborate with data engineering and business intelligence teams to specify Silver data contracts, review pipeline outputs, and ensure data model readiness.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation, including data dictionaries, lineage, SCD behavior, and certified metric definitions, applying appropriate sensitivity labels and endorsements.
Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of experience in data modeling or analytics engineering, with a proven track record of strong SQL proficiency.
  • Hands-on expertise with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse/Warehouse, OneLake, Delta tables, Dataflows Gen2 or Pipelines, and SQL endpoints.
  • Advanced knowledge of dimensional modeling, including star schemas, fact types (transactional, periodic snapshot, accumulating), bridge tables, degenerate and junk dimensions.
  • Demonstrated experience with SCD Type 1 and 2 implementations using MERGE, effective/expiry dating, and handling late-arriving data.
  • Proficiency in Power BI semantic modeling and DAX, including clean tabular model design, CALCULATE/KEEPFILTERS/USERELATIONSHIP functions, and date intelligence.
  • Experience configuring incremental refresh, basic aggregations, and Row-Level Security in Power BI.
  • Strong understanding of data quality and governance best practices, including defining tests, documenting metrics, and managing endorsements and sensitivity labels.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate stakeholder requirements into effective data models and certified measures.
  • Healthcare, life sciences, or pharmacy domain experience is a plus, especially with product master data, compliance artifacts, and membership or continuing education tracking.

Pay Range: $50.00 - $66.00 per hour

This position offers a hybrid schedule, with time split between the office and remote work.
