Job Title:- Sr. Data Engineer

Job Location:- Reston or Columbia offices 1x every 2 months

Long Term Contract

Additional/Must Have Skills:

5-8 Years Experience
Must have data integration/ETL development experience, preferably with Ab Initio, Hadoop, and AWS Redshift
Demonstrated ability to perform complex queries, assess data quality and develop data mappings.
Experience in developing Source to Target mapping (STTM) & Gap Analysis based on business requirement.
Experience with multiple data warehousing and analytics development projects
Must have hands on experience with Linux/Unix Operating Systems.
Must have ability to understand and work with code developed by other developers.
Must have ability to work independently.
Must have extensive experience with Agile or Scrum methodologies.
Must have strong experience in continuous integration within DevOps environment.
Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written (in English).
Good to have experience working with API Management Tools.
Good to have Experience working with GIT/BitBucket.

-Currently using Cloud era but migrating to AWS RedShift

-Prior Healthcare exp. Is a plus

PURPOSE:
The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for orchestrating, deploying, maintaining and scaling cloud OR on-premise infrastructure targeting big data and platform data management (Relational and NoSQL, distributed and converged) with emphasis on reliability, automation and performance. This role will focus on developing solutions and helping transform the company's platforms deliver data-driven, meaningful insights and value to company.

Job Functions:
Candidate will also support the implementation of a Data Integration/Data Warehouse for the Delivery Team

Acquire data from internal or external data sources and maintain mapping documents of the files, databases/data systems.
Perform data analysis and data modeling to create source to target mappings.
Evaluate risk from statistical information to determine risk to operations or non-compliance.
Perform gap analysis of data requirements versus current data sources.
Work closely with business analysts and source data experts to develop data requirements.
Develop/Re-design Ab Initio graphs to satisfy business requirement.
Performing ongoing tuning & testing to the existing Ab Initio graphs to obtain optimal performance.

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree

Education Details: Computer Science, Information Technology or Engineering or related field

Experience: 5 years' experience with database design and developing modeling tools. Experience developing and updating ETL/ELT scripts. Hands-on experience with application development, relational database layout, development, data modeling.

In Lieu of Education
In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.
