DESCRIPTION:
The Client is requires the services of 1 Network Administrator 1, hereafter referred to as Candidate(s), who meets the general qualifications of Network Administrator 1, Networking/Telecommunications and the specifications outlined in this document for the Client.
All work products resulting from the project shall be considered "works made for hire" and are the property of client and Archives Commission and may include pre-selection requirements that potential Vendors (and their Candidates) submit to and satisfy criminal background checks as authorized by Texas law. Texas State Library and Archives Commission will pay no fees for interviews or discussions, which occur during the process of selecting a Candidate(s).
Job Summary
The Network Administrator is responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting the organization's network infrastructure, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), wireless networks, and Internet systems. This position ensures network availability, performance, and security by monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting network hardware, software, and related systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and manage Windows Server environments (2012 or later) within an Active Directory domain.
- Manage Microsoft 365 services including user provisioning, mailbox administration, Teams, and SharePoint support.
- Configure and support TCP/IP core services including LDAP, DHCP, DNS, and SMTP.
- Manage access control lists, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), file and print services, and automation platforms.
- Provide operational support for VOIP-based phone systems and imaging/document management systems.
- Install, configure, and maintain Cisco networking hardware including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Administer Meraki wireless infrastructure and support LAN/WAN infrastructure, wireless access points, and telecommunications systems.
- Monitor network performance and health using tools such as PRTG, MRGT, and ManageEngine; troubleshoot and resolve issues to minimize downtime.
- Maintain network support software; perform hardware and software updates and upgrades.
- Prepare documentation for audits, compliance, and internal reporting.
- Perform tuning and capacity planning to enhance network performance and scalability.
- Coordinate the development, implementation, and maintenance of network security measures.
- Provide user training and technical support as needed; prepare and deliver training courses on network utilities and systems.
- Assist with evaluating new or upgraded hardware/software and report on potential benefits and risks.

- Weekly progress reports of work completed and current priorities.
- Timely response and resolution of incidents and requests
- Maintenance of up-to-date system and network documentation
- Status updates on identified risks, challenges, and upcoming maintenance activities
- Criminal history check required of successful candidate
- Must complete the required IT Security training; certificate of completion must be provided to TSLAC
- May include occasional after-hours support for scheduled maintenance or urgent incidents
CANDIDATE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 Years-Required-Network Administration or Support Roles
- 3 Years-Required-Strong knowledge of Microsoft server environments, Microsoft 365, and virtualization platforms (eg., VMware, Hyper-V).
- 3 Years-Required-Hands-on experience with Cisco and Meraki network equipment and VoIP systems
- 3 Years-Preferred-Documenting and supporting compliance-driven IT environments
- 3 Years-Preferred-Administering and managing Windows Server environments (2012 or later) within an Active Directory domain
- 3 Years-Preferred-Managing access control lists, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), file and print services, and automation systems. Support imaging/document management systems. Provide operational support for VoIP-based phone systems
- 3 Years-Preferred-Configuring and supporting core TCP/IP services such as LDAP, DHCP, DNS, SMTP
- 3 Years-Preferred-Working within virtualized environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) to support system uptime and scalability
