Job Details
Customs and Border Protection's Unmanned Aircraft System (CBP UAS) Program Office has the need to ensure its UAS networks are secure. To accomplish this, the contractor shall provide an ISSO with the detailed knowledge and expertise required to ensure the implementation and maintenance of security controls in accordance with all applicable laws, standards, guidance, and best practices required for a valid Authorization to Operate (ATO) as assigned by the CBP Authorizing Official (AO). The UAS includes the unmanned aircraft, airborne sensors, Ground Control Stations (GCSs), and associated Mission System Operator (MSO) stations. The ISSO will work in close coordination with the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) and other certifying officials to ensure security requirements are complied with, security controls are implemented and maintained, and security incidents are reported to maintain the ATO.

Role and Responsibilities*
- Assist the ISSM in meeting their duties and responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and update authorization packages
- Ensure approved procedures are in place for clearing, sanitizing, and destroying various types of hardware and media
- Notify ISSM when changes occur that might affect the authorization determination of the system(s)
- Conduct periodic reviews of systems to ensure compliance with the security authorization package
- Coordinate any changes or modifications to hardware, software, or firmware of a system with the ISSM and AO/DAO prior to the change
- Monitor system recovery processes to ensure security features and procedures are properly restored and functioning correctly
- Ensure all information security-related documentation is current and accessible to properly authorized individuals
- Ensure audit records are collected, reviewed, and documented (to include any anomalies)
- Attend required technical and security training (e.g., operating system, networking, security management) relative to assigned duties
- Execute the cyber security portion of the self-inspection, to include provide security coordination and review of all system assessment plans
- Identify cyber security vulnerabilities and assist with the implementation of the countermeasures for them
- Prepare reports on the status of security safeguards applied to computer systems
- Conduct security impact analysis activities and provide to the ISSM on all configuration management changes to the authorization boundaries
Qualifications and Education Requirements*
- Bachelor's degree in related technical discipline
- 10+ years or experience as a system, network administrator or ISSO
- Experience working with federal agencies (e.g., DHS, DoD) or on mission-driven technology programs is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint).
- Strong technical writing, communication, and coordination skills.

- Ability to travel up to 50% to support site visits and program reviews.
