Datacenter Subject Matter Expert

A globally leading consumer device company headquartered in Cupertino, CA is looking for a Datacenter Subject Matter Expert to help design and improve their widely distributed global satellite communications systems! You will be working with an international, collaborative team and multiple vendors to deliver the future of high-performance, best-in-class wireless communications for millions of customers.
Job Responsibilities:
-Responsible for building and improving communications systems that touch customers around the world: defining system architectures, writing requirements and technical budgets, assessing system performance, and troubleshooting issues.
-Closely collaborating with internal teams as well as managing external
suppliers to deliver on company's vision.
-Show knowledge of data center facilities design, commissioning and operations and ability to project lead equipment upgrades and modifications in production environments.
-Assist with developing training programs and provide training and mentorship to facility operators.
-Planning, analytical, organization and problem solving skills.
-Gracefully adjust to meet changing circumstances such as reorganizations, reassignment of project priority, changes in strategic direction, and customer needs.
-Drive internal and external design, vendors to perform with high quality and deliver to results-driven design schedules.
-Take care of ambiguity in problem definition, and have strong engineering and business values.
Key Qualifications:
- You have 5+ years of experience with datacenters / critical infrastructure.
- Experience with Satellite tracking ground antennas, and satellite uplink ground stations is a plus (or cellular sites).
- Experience with facility and systems monitoring best practices, data analysis, incident management and troubleshooting.
- Experience working with Business Continuity Plans, Audits, Compliance, and Root Cause Analysis initiatives.
- Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, regulations and standards for datacenters (eg: ISO/IEC 22237,
TIA-942, EN-50600).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, civil, fire system drawings and schematics.
- Experience designing / deploying / maintaining Network Architectures.
- Experience with fiber builds, diversity etc.
- Experience with operating a high reliability service, focusing on improving uptime
- Ability and desire to work in a highly cross-functional team, spanning multiple time zones, operating at fast pace.
- Expert-level knowledge and support of data center operations, including electrical systems that support systems in higha vailability, high-risk, or high-reliability environments.
- 5+ years of experience working with physical servers, network equipment, and Out-of-Band hardware including facility controls is desired
- This position requires excellent verbal/written communication skills and excellent time management skills.
- Ability to complete all assigned tasks while attaining the highest level of efficiency without disruption to the business.
- Up to 50% travel. Team members are required to have considerable judgment and initiative with minimal direction. Understand the implications of work to make sound recommendations for solutions.

Type: Contract
Duration: 12 months with extension
Work Location: San Jose, CA (hybrid)
Pay range: $ 73.00 - $ 88.00 (DOE)
