We're hiring on behalf of a fast-growing AI/ML company revolutionizing healthcare staffing and operations. Their cutting-edge platform leverages Generative AI and voice biomarker technology to reduce administrative burdens and improve patient care.
What You'll Do:
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll play a key role in building and scaling Python microservices that power real-time conversational AI systems. Your work will touch everything from audio capture and transcription to LLM orchestration and voice synthesis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and integrate plug-ins for ASR, TTS, LLMs, and memory services
- Build and optimize real-time streaming pipelines (WebRTC, SIP, gRPC, FastAPI)
- Ensure ultra-low latency (<500ms) and high reliability across services
- Implement observability (OpenTelemetry, metrics, logs) and define SLOs
- Build secure, production-ready systems with HIPAA-compliant practices
- Collaborate with ML, product, and SDK teams on features like voice cloning and multimodal hand-offs
What You Bring:
- 5+ years of backend development experience in modern Python
- Strong background in real-time systems (WebRTC, WebSockets, gRPC)
- Proficiency with async frameworks (asyncio, FastAPI)
- Deep understanding of concurrency, audio codecs, and distributed tracing
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Google Cloud Platform/Azure), Kubernetes, and IaC (Terraform)
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL, Redis, and modeling conversational state
- Clear communicator with a passion for building observable, scalable systems
