Principal Systems Engineer

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Principal Systems Engineer for a CONTRACT assignment with one of our premier Financial Services clients in Stamford, CT. Hybrid schedule 3x onsite weekly

Job Highlights:

• Batch scheduling backup role - overnight support and weekend when needed, but normal business hours
• Team uses Autosys, but can be similar tool
• Ability to write code, Perl and Shell scripting
• Basic Unix commands / Scripting
• Plus = backup environment experience - they use NetWorker (Dell product)
• Not seeking candidates that are primarily Development or DBA experience
• Prefer batch focused experience

Responsibilities :

• Upgrade devices with global standards for service and support for an EOL Remediation program is required to mitigate storage and backup infrastructure that has reach end of service life
• Sybase to SQL migration, 3PAR upgrades, NetApp EOL bridges & switches, and system development to automate internal and external batch processing/storage workloads.
• Principal systems development resource with specific SME skill sets in Perl scripting, JavaScript, Sybase, SQL, Python, Jenkins, GITLab, AutoSys, databases and software development
• Engineering new solutions to replace EOL storage and batch processing environments.
• Developing complex planning cycles to implement solutions without service outages or impacts to applications
• Implementing and production cutover events. Weekend availability is required.

Required Skills :

• Experience with Perl, Java, SQL, NetApp, 3PAR, Sybase, CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, GITLab, virtualization, VMWare, Google Cloud Platform/AWS cloud development
• Experience in batch processing, event based & real time data analytics, data warehousing, automation certifications in Python, Terraform, Ansible or similar.
• Collaborative style, with ability to rapidly discover our current networking environment, prioritize specific designs that need upgrade, and work closely with a tenured team to complete strategic priorities.
• Technical depth in developing workload automation using Perl, Java, Python across multiple system platforms
• Experience with large global financial environments with critical internal and external batch processing
• Experience in financial companies with heavy batch processing and storage requirements for both on prem and cloud
• Automation skills
