THE ROLE:

AMD is looking for a Principal Application Support Engineer to join our AI Networking Infrastructure support team. If are enjoy tackling complex customer problems at scale, obsess over attention to detail, and are comfortable leading cross functional teams then this is the role for you. You will be a member of a core team of incredibly talented individuals working to support the latest hardware and software technologies driving the enablement of large-scale AI clusters.

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate should be excited about customer success and should possess technical and leadership skills to drive complex issues to resolution. Ability to articulate and present status to senior leadership is a must. Being a team player, and one who believes in listening to diverse perspectives is a baseline requirement, along with a proven automation and scripting background.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Own key customer and OEM engagements for current and next generation of AI networking infrastructure products.
  • Collaborate across various teams in Engineering and Marketing to resolve critical escalations.
  • Drive serviceability and product quality requirements across the product portfolio.
  • Provide inputs and shape the usability and serviceability of future products.
  • Provide systems/product training to customers and build a knowledge base for customer support and internal partners
  • Be part of an on-call rotation to support production systems

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience engaging with Hyperscalers in a support leadership role.
  • Experience troubleshooting at all levels of an integrated platform.
  • Strong fundamentals in Datacenter Networking, Routing & Switching incl. load balancing (ECMP), underlay/overlay technologies
  • Strong scripting skills in Python/Go/Shell scripting
  • Comfortable presenting at customer meetings and briefings to executive leadership.
  • Familiarity with GPU operations, Collective Communication Libraries, modern AI training contexts
  • Familiarity with InfiniBand protocol & RDMA - including setup, bring up, troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with RoCE v2 congestion control protocols
  • Familiarity with NCCL/RCCL test benchmarks
  • Familiarity with DPU and SmartNIC.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers
  • Experience with software development processes and tools such as debuggers, and source code control systems (GitHub) is a plus

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
