Job Description:
The NJ Department of Agriculture is looking to hire a seasoned data analyst who can quickly learn our business requirements and help assess our data systems and programs to improve our reporting and other data capabilities.
This Data Analyst will be expected to assess complex data systems and programs in support of ad-hoc and standing management or customer requests. This individual will creates reports, programs, methodologies, and files for the analysis and presentation of our organization's current and legacy data. They will review our organization's current and legacy data to evaluate data quality and opportunities for improvement. This resource will research new data sources and analytical tools, such as those available in third-party platforms such as AWS. This individual will contribute to new application and report development, as well as implementing improvements in product delivery and presentation, through the use of database applications and analytical tools. This person will engage our internal customers in their data collection efforts and seek their feedback on any modifications and improvements they intend to implement.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong mathematical skills to help collect, measure, organize, and analyze data.
- Knowledge of programming languages like SQL, Python, and JavaScript.
- Technical proficiency regarding database design development, data models, techniques for data mining, and segmentation.
- Experience in handling reporting packages like Business Objects and/or programming (JavaScript, XML, or ETL frameworks) databases.
- Proficiency in statistics and statistical packages like Excel, SPSS, SAS to be used for data set analyzing.
