Job Description:
Walmart is seeking a talented and motivated Java Developer to join our team in Hoboken, NJ. This role will focus on developing scalable, high-performance backend systems that support Walmart s global eCommerce platform. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Java-based microservices architecture, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and event-driven systems using Kafka.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, test, and deploy robust backend solutions using Java and Spring Boot.
Build and maintain microservices that support various eCommerce and business functions.
Develop RESTful APIs to enable integration across internal and external systems.
Leverage Kafka for real-time data processing and event-driven architecture.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including front-end developers, product managers, QA, and DevOps.
Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and agile ceremonies.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in production environments.
Continuously improve code quality, performance, and reliability.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
3+ years of professional experience in Java development.
Strong experience with Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices architecture.
Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka or similar messaging/streaming platforms.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS).
Solid understanding of software engineering best practices (CI/CD, TDD, Git).
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a high-scale, distributed systems environment.
Exposure to containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
Prior experience working in a retail or eCommerce environment is a plus.

Hybrid work model expected to be onsite in the Hoboken office 2 days per week.
