Position Description:
This is a highly technical Network Engineering position for supporting a large campus infrastructure.
The employee will work as a technical lead with a team of professionals to assist in maintaining a large and complex campus network. The employee will take a lead role in supporting all aspects of the VoIP and Data Network.
This position will require Critical thinking, communication, and customer relations skills.
Daily work will involve Network engineering work involving planning, design, maintenance, and support of a statewide Cisco network.
Provide support, troubleshoot, and resolve issues on voice and data networks.
Provide support, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with the wireless infrastructure.
Provide support, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with Cisco LAN DNA infrastructure.
Perform maintenance on network appliances and servers by applying patches, upgrades, and performing backups.
Perform packet captures and analysis to assist in the resolution of issues.
Document all relevant end-user interactions and steps taken to resolve incidents.

Skills Required:
Excellent written and oral communication skills are required for this position.
The candidate must possess the ability to work well independently and as a member of a team. The ideal candidate should have experience in Cisco Catalyst 9300 / Other Catalyst Series switches, Cisco Nexus 9K/7K/5K/2K Series of switches, Cisco ASR and ISR Routers, and Wireless LAN technologies. Extensive experience in LAN/WAN integration, maintenance, and troubleshooting, experience configuring and maintaining routing protocols in a Cisco environment, primarily EIGRP, BGP, and OSPF.
Required skillset should include but is not limited to the following:
Experience with troubleshooting, design, and tuning of BGP environments.
Hands-on experience with configuration and maintenance of Cisco Catalyst & Nexus switches.Analyze and observe trends with technical issues and develops recommendations for long-term improvements.
Have advanced troubleshooting skills including experience performing Packet Capture and Analysis.
Ability to identify and document network elements for presentation and future planning.
Resourcefulness in multi-tasking, anticipating needs, developing creative solutions, and researching/synthesizing information to resolve problems with minimal supervision.
Experience Required:
Minimum 8 years working in a Cisco environment utilizing the skills listed in the sections above.
Held the position of technical lead of small to medium-sized technical projects with 2 or more other team members.
Experience configuring and tuning SNMP environments.
Experience Preferred:
Experience with the following:Utilizing Python or another scripting language to deploy network automation and/or API integration.Design and deployment of a Cisco wireless environment including Cisco ISE.
Deployment and maintenance of Cisco Application Policy Infrastructure (APIC) and ACI fabric.Creating network monitoring and performance reports for Local Area Network/Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN) infrastructure, providing trend analysis and capacity planning documents.Cisco UC products; Communications Manager, Contact Center Express (UCCX), WebEx, Cisco Border Element (CUBE), SIP signaling, and expressways.
