Job Title: Specialty Software Engineer - Full Stack Java
Location: Charlotte, NC (300 Brevard St)
Job Type: Contract (24 months, potential for conversion) only W2
Work Schedule: Hybrid - 3 days in-office required

About the Role

As a Specialty Software Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and developing high-performance risk simulation systems within the Counterparty Credit Risk Technology team.

You will work on complex, large-scale software engineering initiatives that require deep technical expertise and a strong understanding of financial risk domains. This is a high-impact, individual contributor role with opportunities to collaborate across business and technology teams.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain risk simulation software using Java, SQL Server, Autosys, IBM Platform Symphony, and Coherence.
  • Build and enhance systems for stress testing, CCAR, and risk analytics (e.g., Greeks, sensitivities, P&L vectors).
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into functional and technical specifications.
  • Develop scalable, distributed systems with a focus on performance, maintainability, and extensibility.
  • Create and optimize SQL Server database objects (tables, views, stored procedures).
  • Conduct thorough unit testing and document development activities.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups and sprint planning.
  • Analyze complex data sets and ensure computational efficiency and scalability.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in Specialty Software Engineering or equivalent experience through work, consulting, military service, or education.
  • Strong proficiency in Java and object-oriented design principles.
  • Experience with SQL Server and distributed computing frameworks.
  • Proven ability to work on complex systems in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Solid understanding of software development lifecycle, Agile methodologies, and risk management concepts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in financial services or capital markets risk technology.
  • Familiarity with risk modeling, stress testing, and regulatory frameworks such as CCAR.
  • Knowledge of in-memory data grids and high-performance computing environments.
